We installed our own mezzanine yesterday, OH has excelled himself with the DIY xoxo .

So far it's mainly been popular for hiding underneath rolleyes
However they have been up and explored and hopefully once I start putting some tasty nibbles up there it'll get some use.

My guinea pigs have one, too, in both cages (custom built by my husband). They sleep underneath and eat on top.

OMG that's so neat!
Maybe you could try like i did, leave lots of little nibbles every few hours leading up the ramp and in the new area.........they soon get the idea and just go exploring anyways!
Brill pics...........you don't feel like coming and doing mine for me do you? ;):(|)

If that includes a trip to Oz, OH and I will be there in a jiff! :))

oooh that looks good, how did you make it,was it easy?ive ordered a nero 4 for my future piggie sons but i do like cages with more then one level, so if its easy i may install an extra floor in my cage :)

That set up looks fantastic - what is your mezzanine made of ?

How do i ensure my piggies safety on the ramp as i would be worried that they would fall off the side. x

It's made from 10mm polypropylene. OH had a big sheet of it left over from one of his projects and he cut it to size with notches in it so it would rest on the bottom of the bars.

The wall is fleece suspended from a bungee at the top and secured to the bottom of the mezzanine with velcro. I've velcroed the fleece to the ramp too, but I'm thinking of making a tunnel so it's a bit more appealing.

The mezzanine is about 20cm off the ground, they sometimes jump higher than that getting out of the tray so not very high.

what are the round things under the mezzanine? are they holding it up?
they look interesting - what are they and where did you find them?

They're 'Nature Huts' - bought them here:

They're just slid under the mezzanine they're not supporting it. The piggies used to sleep 1 in each, but since they got the new roof they often just sleep round the back of them! Not sure why I bother really, they'd probably be just as happy in a cardboard box LOL

My girls have a cardboard box! it's there main bedroom :) This is how they grew up with their mum and sisters so i kept them like this, they do like to decorate it and alter it to how they like tho rolleyes:(|)

I like those Nature Huts great idea x)

There's a fair bit of DIY being carried out going by the amount of nibbling noises coming from there :))

I think they're going to outgrow them fairly soon and at that point they can move into a cardboard box each!
