afternoon all. a little query here.
i know have 6 boars (2x2x2) now i know 3 are possibly brothers (three of the ones dumped on my step) and the other three (the newbies) are all from the same litter
at the moment i have 2 sets of 2 brothers living together (2 bros in one enclosure, 2 in another) and then the two 'left overs from each group' living together. all 3 enclosures are next to each other, and every morning ive found that some of the piggies have managed to scramble into the other enclosures and the majority of the piggies huddled together in one house! every day it happens, even when i hightened the divider, they still manage to do it.
is it worth me taking the divider down and see if all six live in harmony? is this possible? or am i going to have to dismantle the enclosures and move them to different rooms (dont really wnat them in the house though because the girls live in there and i dont want the boars smelling them)

any ideas?

well I'm crazy for boars and have 13,i would love to do what your considering but in all honesty even though they appear to be getting along in the long term it most probably wont work and you could end up with all of them hating each other,if i was you i would possible pick personalitys very carefully and try two trios instead,i think 6 is just to much testosterone to go around not to mention the size of the cage you would need a minimum C&C cage size of 4 x 10 which is huge

the enclosures are all home made (i have a gp 'room' entirely for them) each 2 boars have at the moment a floor space of 2mx1,20m so space is not an issue (there is more room in the room if needed, where the supplies are kept)
i could try 2 x 3boars ((the original set up, the brothers all back together) but i was worried of 2 becoming close and picking on the third (or does it not work like that in piggy world?) i am still learning but just keep on trying to improve life for the piggys, ive become very attached already! i dont want to just go ahead and try something without first seeking advice from people who know piggys better than i do, hence all my (what may sound like silly)questions and ideas :)

If you want, you can let them mix as long as they get on. Just be prepared that in all likelihood there will be a point when they don't any longer and you will have to separate permanently. This usually happens when they hit the hormonal stage at the same time.

Trios of boars are not uncommon; the chance of one being bullied at some stange is simply always there and you have to be prepared for it and be able to rearrange the housing accordingly. The more boars you keep together, they more space they need to get along long term. Many fights between boars are down to lack of space.

well yet again they have climbed the barriers and i found most boars in the same enclosure, so I'm going to give it a try at least, but keep a very close eye on them!

I can vouch for that. I have three boars and none of them get on. they do, however, live happily as neighbours.:))

I have 12 boars all living together in a large indoor winter run with boxes nd hidey holes and h *** never had a fight .A bit of rumble strutting and mounting each other. They have all been together since babies. I alco have several neutered boars living in doors in large area with sows . Some seem to make a particular friend and stay close to each other ,again no fighting. Am I just lucky?

I'd say you were extremely lucky or i'm extremely unlucky. I have enough on trying to keep boys in pairs! :(|)
