I wonder if anyone can give me sone advice I am in a bit of a dilemma!
I brought my 2 boars in 2 weeks ago , I was very excited!:))
However, their smell is beginning to put me off having them indoors. That really sounds mean I know, but it isnt pleasent as the only place I can put them is in the kitchen. I am using vetbed and am spotchecking everyday and washing vetbed every 4th day.
I am considering putting them back into their previous shed, with the vetbed, snugglesafe heatpad and loads of hay. I am bringing them in for fireworks etc.
Do you think this would be okay? I am making sure they will be as warm as can be. I am gonna miss them if we do decide to do this!:0
ANy advice be great

Personaly I wouldn't use vetbed. I'd use fleece or my current choice at the moment is shavings and hay :))

I think it's too heavy and thick and harbours smells. It's fine for dogs etc. even my dog has some :) Have you looked into other bedding yet ?

I use vetbed, and don't think it smells. Perhaps boys are smellier than girls? I personally think they'd be fine in a shed, I have 32 guineas living in a shed and they are on hay and shavings and they're fine. I obviously close the door if it's ice cold but with lots of hay for bedding I think they'd be OK.

If you are going to have them in your shed then i'd do it asap as the weather is getting colder, or it is in Yorkshire. I wouldn't use vetbed in an outdoor hutch either & whatever you choose as a base bedding i would top with lots & lots of hay & cover most of their hutch front at night - they will be fine. Mine are all out in their shed & will stay out on bonfire night too as they've always done :)

mine are shed piggies too - i use fleece, plenty of cardboard boxes as hides and hay piles.

just check your shed is weather proof- now is the time for the last minute improvements

Thank you so much everybody for your advice. It has made me feel a lot better. I am doing it this week but I will still use vetbed as I think it will be warmer for them. Do you think?

Vetbed is warm but they can't burrow in it like they can hay, by all means use your vet bed but i would fill their bedding box with lots of hay for them to snuggle in, they will appreciate it :)
