If you're a fleece user I sure could use some answers! What do you put under the fleece? How do your piggies find it? How long does it last until it needs a good washing? Do you put your hay on top of the fleece? Would you strongly recommend it? Thanks :)

I place a layer of towels and then two layers of fleece. I collect poops three times a day. I place hay in a pile in the middle of the cage so the piggies can play in it as well as eat it. I wash it every three days.

I LOVE fleece. I would never go back to bedding. I put towels underneath it. My piggies love it. When I first got them I was using Carefresh bedding and it was so dusty and smelly and the pigs were always sneezing and well as me. I rarely hear a sneeze from them now. I change my cage every 3-4 days but I'm a little OCD so I like to keep the cage really clean. Most people only need to change it out once a week. The bigger the cage the better for cleanliness and the less often you will have to change it out. I put my hay is a kitty litter pan with a towel in it and change that out everyday. That really helps to contain the mess. I would very much recommend fleece. I personally love it!

I have 2 bath towels under one fleece...

Saying that I have just switched to c&c & one fleece doesn't fit! So am now not sure...

I was changing it twice a week... It does get stinky if left.

I use corner litter trays for hay...

I put washable bed pads underneath my fleece - my pigs love it and i find its much better for long haired pigs as bedding doesn't get stuck/tangled in their hair.

I wash my fleece very 4th day - i bought a wash bag from ebay that i put all the fleece/bed pads in - to stop any stray hairs that didn't come off when shaking ending up in my washing machine.

I clean my pigs out once a day using a standard non expensive cylinder hoover.

My hay goes in hay racks with a cheap litter tray underneath to catch falling strands of hay. The litter trays are filled with either megazorb or shavings and topped with hay.

What do you put under the fleece?
-I put towles and newspaper under the fleece
How do your piggies find it?
-My girlies dont really seem to care :)
How long does it last until it needs a good washing?
-With wood shaving I would have to change them every 3 days, but the fleece I change every 4 days :))
Do you put your hay on top of the fleece?
-I do! But I plan on getting a hay rack cause its a pain in the butt to get the hay out of the fleece
Would you strongly recommend it?
For the piggies health yes. I hate it so much just because I honestly think its a lot more work but I under stand that its more health so I use it :)
I hope I helped! :)) :))

I use a thick layer of newspaper, then a couple of old bath towels then a flee e. I thi k my pigs prefer it, they're always laying around looking relaxed! I use hay racks and poop scoop twice a day. I wash everything every 3-4 days, the towels on a hot wash and the fleeces seperately in a special wash bag that zips up to stop hay and hair clogging my machine up. If you type 'horsewear wash bag' into eBay they come up, they are orange and are around £9.99 - £11.99 :)

First layer is a towel, then cloth diapers, then fleece.

Hay is in a hay rack.

They seem to like it :)

I use inco pads under the fleece & wash it once a week. These are the ones I use [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000MES1W8/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00"]http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000MES1W8/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00[/ame]

I try to keep the hay upstairs, where it is just correx & newspaper, but naughty piggies sometimes decide that they would prefer to drag it downstairs so they can munch in bed :))

Oh i forgot to say i sweep poos 2 times a day atm but might do 1 a day once i expand our cage. Change fleece 1 time a week so far....might switch to 2 times.

I used to use 2 layers of towels underneath, and they lasted a week before needing changed. I'm using puppy pads now which also last about a week for me, but that varies from person to person.

I have 2 cat litter trays with newspaper and wooden cat litter pellets, which I put hay into to keep it off the fleece, as it can be a pain in the backside otherwise.

I do a poop run once a day, though I use a Dyson DC34 Animal for it, so hair on the fleece is at a minimum when it comes to the fleece being changed.

As much as I find fleece annoying to change and wash, I wouldn't have my lot on anything else.

I have newspaper, then towels, then fleece. I change the cage every Wednesday and Sunday. Takes about an hour to clean both (but that includes catching the pigs!) but mine are pretty big. I just put the hay all over the place so they can lie and wriggle in it, then give the fleece a good shake in the garden before putting it in a wash bag. I poo pick several times a day, because my pigs like to sleep where they poop ... the little tinks! I've only ever used fleece and don't have any problems.

I love fleece, looks so much better. I have a layer of newspaper, two layers of mattress protectors and then a layer of fleece. The boys pee and poo in their wooden house so I have a cat litter tray under it and fill it with hay. This gets changed every morning and night, I poop patrol once a day for the ones which get flinged around and so far have only just taken out the mattress protectors and fleece today which is 5 days after I put it in - the newspaper was unstained and still dry so I figure that isnt too much time. If you can predict where they will pee and poo and use a little tray and hay then it reduces the need to clean obsessively! They have a two tier 4 ft hutch so the space means they are spread out and there isnt one area of concentrated pee!

I'm glad this thread was started! two of my pigs live inside and wood shavings all over my bedroom floor drives me mad! I put down some fleece but within half a day it wreaked of pee! I can't wash it everyday so have a dilemma! grrrr

Hello :D

I was just wondering what you thought of the Dyson DC24 Animal as I want to purchase one but with the hefty price tag I want to make sure it the right choice. Is it good for piggy poo and hay? I have fleece and think it would be brilliant to be able to just hoover it up daily as sweeping is very time consuming.

Thank you in advance :)

I have to be honest I don't like fleece at all, for me it seems unnatural to use if you have outdoor piggys. I put fleeces in their hutch if they want to snuggle but I prefer comfy bed and hay. I'm sure if you have c and c cages they are probably great

A towel and then fleece. I did put newspaper underneath but it doesn't seem to make much difference and it's less hassle every time I clean them out without it.

The pigs love it. And because they live in my bedroom it is a lot less messy then other types of bedding that could get kicked out onto the floor

Also, i'd like to say if my pigs lived outside I would probably use hay and megazorb or something similar. It seems much better for keeping them warm then fleece.

You could try using a cat litter tray to put their hay in. Mine like to sit in their hay and eat, wee and poop. Then less mess on the fleece and a cat tray can be emptied out daily.

Little Eskimo do you find you need to change them more without the newspaper? I get four and a bit dayswith newspaper, towel & fleece, how long do you get before you change yours?
