My boys have moved indoors into a ferplast 120 and they seem to be enjoying themselves! I'm currently using puppy pads, Fitch and hay in their bed/ hidey as that's what we used in the hutch but I've decided to try fleece while they are inside.

I found a 2 pack of fleece blankets in B&M for £4 - bargain - and was going to look out some old towels for underneath the fleece. Then came the stroke of genius! I used to use cloth nappies when my kids were babies and have still got them. One of the types were pre-folds, basically rectangles of a few layers of heavy duty cotton sewn together which you fold into a narrower rectangle and use with a fleece liner and waterproof pants. Opened out, 4 will fit mostly over the base of the cage and I will need to fold 2 to cover it completely which will go in their bedroom area for extra padding.

I just hope it works as kitting the cage out with fleece will have cost me £4! My fleece is currently on it's first wash so I'm hoping to set them up tomorrow or Sunday. In theory it should work as the nappies are being used for their original purpose really! Fingers crossed!

Good idea :) although I always wonder why people here use fleece as the top layer in runs as its completely the opposite to the theory with washable nappies and sanitary towels which are cotton top, towelling inner and fleece backed to prevent leakage - the nappy theory makes much more sense in my mind

The fleece does keep them dry as it wicks the wet away to the layers underneath. We used fleece liners in the nappies between their skin and the nappy so the wee soaked through but the fleece kept their bum dry, then the waterproof layer over the whole lot. It will be the same in the cage, fleece under the piggies, nappies to hold the wee and a waterproof puppy pad layer!
