I've just got some profleece for my boys, and boy was it difficult to cut to size :{ Nearly did my back in!

My questions are:
  1. Does it need to be washed first? I've just put it in (checking sizes and fit) but I'm not sure if it needs to be washed?
  2. Are they alright on just bare fleece? I've got some other fleece over the top, but there's a little bit exposed because I cut it too short :red and I'm just wondering if they might eat the fluff because some was coming off when I cut it.
  3. How's it like to wash? I got it out the bag all excited and my Mum's like "How on earth are you going to wash and dry that?" :{

But I love it so far! Its like a bouncy castle in there, and I just know the boys are going to love sleeping on it. Not looking forward to brushing hay and stuff off, though :))

Hey Liane,

I use profleece too and i think it's brilliant! It usually lasts for about a week as the pile is so thick all the wees wick through to the bottom! I do have mattress protectors underneath or if i use newspaper i change that daily...

Now to answer your questions, i didn't wash mine before putting it in. My girls just live straight onto the vet bed (its better that way because you want the wee to wick through it). Mine didn't really seem to have much fluff coming off from it, and my girls are not chewers...it washes fine (don't use fabric conditioner) and dries within a day! I just shove mine in the washing machine and have washed at 60 degrees too. I have a 4x2 C&C cage so did have to chop mine in two halves to get it in the machine! Hope this has helped a bit! Your pigs will LOVE it, so squishy and soft xx>>>

Oh and as for brushing off hay...i have a hay loft and i don't use it up there. I just take it out and bash all the stuff off with my hand! It's usually fine! Try washing it in an old pillow case to stop any hay getting into your machine :)

Is it the same as Vetbed? And what's the best colour to buy, a light one that is poop visible? :)

I think most of them show up poo quite well...unless its black/brown rolleyes I bought blue, because they're boys LOL And they have some other blue white and red striped normal fleece.

:(|) I love the vet fleece, there are some really nice colours available. So far, I have pink, lilac and a dark red for the girls so looking out for 'boarish' colours now for the boys.
I just give it a good brushing off before washing and air dry - the poos sometimes slingshot themselves out of the pens due to the depth of the fleece if the piggies are racing around which is most of the time :x
Find the fleece needs changing twice a week and use fleece blankets underneath which creates a lot of washing but worth it for their comfort ;)
