Just bought a new outdoor hutch for Goofy and his future companions and something had struck my mind... is it big enough for 3? Or maybe just 2 piggies?

I got it off Pets at home as it was the biggest one from the affordable price I was able to pay form my 'treat yourself' gift money. Here is the link for the dandelion den hutch. Please let me know if its big enough for 3 piggies

I've got the Primrose Cottage, which is a 2 tiered hutch. Unfortunately, my two do not use the ramp to gain access to top floor. :( I'm not sure of the measurements to mine, but I think it looks a little wider than the one you have bought, maybe be wrong though.

The stairwell drops down to the 2nd floor, but doesn't obstruct and there would be sufficient space in ours to house another piggie. Bearing in mind, I have a 14" x 14" approx cardboard box in the corner for one or both of them to sleep in, then one of the P@H largest bendy logs just arching over the front of the box to make another outside hideaway. They have adequate room to wander though and we aim to try again to see if they will use both floors.

Is there a hidey section in the hutch that you have bought?

It's a nice looking hutch, but I don't think it's ideal for three boys, if that's what you are considering. If you are having Goofy neutered it will probably be fine for him and a wifey or two. The downside I feel with hutches is that the length is split with the sleeping quarters part so that the actual space for running is a lot smaller than the outer dimensions

I think the size is fine for Goofy and one or two girls but may be a little on the small side for goofy and 2 boys as 3 boys need more space.

I have 4 girls living in a 6ft by 2ft by 2ft with a separate run and they have plenty of room :)

5ft by 2ft by 2ft is the ideal size for 3 guinea pigs :)

I guess you could try putting three pigs in the hutch and see if it feels ok for them.

I see what Skrikopanik means about the two sides being seperated, but if you can maybe put any hidey houses or beds in the sleeping side, and try to keep the other side mostly clear of stuff for running around (except the food bowl) then hopefully that'd be ok?

That hutch is 5ftX2ft right? That's what's recommended for three, but maybe three boys could benefit from a bit more. Also, measure the inside dimensions, because they mightn't be the same as the outside.

Will they get some time in a run too? That'd help. :)

I wouldn't buy a new one or anything, because you just spent a lot of money on this one, and it is quite big.

Yes Goofy has been neutered and I am planing to rehome 2 sows for him. I also have a run built by my husband for Goofy's daily exercise which is massive and expandable to bigger sizes. It isn't fox proof only cat proof :D so we do not allow Goofy to be there while we are not present.

Now I am getting paranoid that I got a wrong size and should have tried to build my own....

I think it's big enough for Goofy and two sows :) That's the size a lot of people recommend for three pigs.

It's just that three boys need lots of space in case they fight, but a boy and two girls should be fine. :)

Thanks guys I already feel better... I just want what's the best for my piggy :D

My 2 boys have that hutch, they only tend to go in it overnight and if we're not around for long periods of time, other than that they are in their 6x4 run, and when it's raining (like now!) they are stretching their legs indoors.

They seem to get on ok.. for now! haha
