I've recently noticed my two piggies (almost 4 and a half years old) and sleeping/resting more and also aren't so quick to come to in the morning looking for food.

At one time I only had to move a little in my bed and they shot out of their house and began biting the bars looking for veggies. Now sometimes they don't even appear when I'm up and about. I don't think there's any illness or anything like that as both are still active at other times - when out for their excercising in the living room both remain sprightly and cthey an still vigorously bite the cage bars when the mood takes them.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I've found this too with my piggies as they get older, they do tend to slow down a bit around 4 years and sleep more. Another thing that seems to make mine less active is summery weather, so that could also be a factor if it's warm where you are.

If they're eating and drinking normally and seem happy in themselves I wouldn't worry too much, based on what you've said, it does sound like normal ageing, but ultimately you know your piggies best so if they do start seem listless or unwell it might be worth taking them to the vet to set your mind at rest :)

It can be their age. I have two older ones and they become a little bit more laid back. But I observed that they are less eager if they get "too much" food. I think they can be supersaturated. Yes I know, I can't imagine Leo and Loki to be ;), but Tönnchen tended to.
