The girls have been home for about an hour now so I just wanted to check that all is well as they gave me a bit of a heart attack at first!

They have been with Suzy since Friday and Mini G is definately the boss of the pairing. I expected a few squabbles and dominant behaviour but still had a shock that as soon as I put them in the cage G mounted Dinky and then chased her right into the wooden house.

There has been quite a bit of rumblestrutting by G and sniffing and nudging of Dinkys bum. Mini G went over to the house and the both had a bit of sniffing of the face and then D came out f the house. As if G had said 'ok you can come out now!'. G has also been 'yawning' and showing her teeth which I've never seen her do before - is this a dominance thing?!

Dinky has settled in the house now and is sleeping and Mini G is sleeping the other end of the cage on some hay.

I've literally been sat next to the cage since I've got home making sure they settle and Mini G doesnt get to aggresive!

Please out my mind at ease! I take it as they're both chilled out and sleeping they're quite happy for the other to be around?

Also managed to get some chill out/ sleepy pictures!

The behaviour is completely normal for a dominant piggy asserting herself - she's making sure that Dinky knows who's the boss in this new environment. Females, and Mini G in particular, can be stropmonsters when they are showing their bossiness - she'll soon relax and settle. It looks like she is already in the pic.

I hope the sow behaviour thread has helped a little with what to expect from two girlies. As I explained when you picked them up, Mini G was in season yesterday so she'll still be a bit hormonal, when she wakes up she may boss Dinky around a bit again - it will settle as Dink is quite happy for her to be the boss.

Don't worry - Mini G is simply throwing her weight around to make absolutely sure who's boss in the their new home!

If you can provide two hideys until they have settled down, that would be great. Otherwise you will see the worst of it subside in the next few days. You will probably see a reoccurrence of more dominance behaviour next time Mini G is in season again.

Brilliant! Looking forward for them to settle properly!

Even though with G being such a Diva I expect to have this every few weeks! pow-pow :P

I don't have another hidey which has two exits but G doesnt sleep in the house that often so I've just covered the other end of the cage with a towel.

They were both in the house just now with no issue! Phew! But have again now gone to sleep seperatly at opposite ends!

Suzy I don't know how you do this every week! :...

If you haven't got another hidey pop in a cardboard box with two exits cut out at either end, I find mine love these :) I've had the yawning etc with my three, it makes uncomfortable watching but can last a couple of days. Maybe give them two feeding bowls too, so Dinky doesn't lose out on her grub, mine all have one each now & it made a lot of difference. None of mine snuggle up together either but I do catch them occasionally face washing the dominant piggy rolleyes

As others have said they are just sorting out their dominance within their new environment :) it's not for the faint hearted is it! Lovely pigtures of them both, sure things will settle down quickly!

Thankfully, neither the amount of dominance nor the length of it determines more than which shape their relationship will take - but NOT to which degree they will become bestest of friends afterwards! ;):))

Good idea! I'll have a look for a cardboard box to put in :)
