Talk me down pleases!

I’ve heard a couple of Alvin and the Chipmunks type coughs from the depths of a tunnel! Not many and they don’t last long. While it’s terribly cute - I’m just checking - now and again do you hear this normally from a guineapig? It’s not even every day.

Thanks!

I’m not sure I know what an Alvin and the Chipmunks cough is? Lol

I would have any cough checked by the vet, as respiratory issues can progress quite quickly.

It may be that it’s just a one off; piggies sometimes eat too quickly!
But still worth ruling out anything more serious.

Mine only cough very occasionally when they are eating too fast too. Keep an eye on them. I’m sure they are just clearing their airways. But get them checked over if you are worried.

Was it when they were eating? If so, it's not such a worry as they can scoff too fast and make themselves cough a bit. If, however, the cough is heard when they are not eating too fast then it is definitely something to monitor more closely. If in doubt get a vet to check it out.

Thankyou folks! Yes it’s when they are eating thanks! They do scoff their food. Even their hay! They are especially loving the new hay I’m trying and eat it in big mouthfuls!

I’ll keep an ear and my eyes out, but yeah - that’s probably it.

Thank you!
