If you had two guinea pigs. Can you make them a two level cage with each level the appropriate amount for one pig. Not saying I'm going to do this, but I am just curious.

In principal, I don't see why not, e.g. you could do if they fought and didn't get along.

Double hutches are kinda useful for this potential emergency! :)

Ah, sorry!

In that case yes. My original pair of girls lived in a double 4"x 2" hutch, so I guess you could say they had 4" of space each (although they were together on the same floor more often than not!) if that makes sense

Hi I have a two level c&c cage think as long as they use the tunnels they have enough space mine run up and down all the time

Hey guys I may end up having to do this. Would two level 2x3 be ok? Or would this be too small? They are currently in a 2.2x4. I just feel like in there current location they are not getting enough attention, but I don't want to cut down too much of there cage space? If this is out of the question let me know so I can come up with another plan. :)

You have to remember that when referring to cage size, it's the size of just one of the levels and not split between 2 levels. It will also largely depend on whether your piggies are male or female.

If they are female, the minimum size is 3x2, though more is preferential. If they are boys, the minimum is 4x2, preferably more as they can be so territorial. Hope this helps! ;)

Yes, i would also point out that when measuring cage size only one layer is ever counted. This is because piggies need to run laps to keep fit, so if their is not the space for them to run nice big laps they cant build up the speed needed.

However, given what your talking about i think a 2 layered 2x3 would be fine for two females, but it might be pushing it for space with two males.

Yeah, I figured that.

This is why I ask these things :D

It's just where they are now they don't get enough social time with me as they arn't easy to get to... but I'm sure I can make 2x4 work somewhere. :)

They are boars and they seem to not have very many issues with eachother... but that could be because of there cage size. Maybe I'll make a 4x2 place to run around with tunnels and like... a smaller area for their pigloo's. that way I don't feel like I'm filling up there actual space.

I may have found a place. it is 36" x 46" is that enough room for everything? Because i can still add the second level for like... hay and pigloo's.

36" by 46" would be 3ft by 3ft10inches right? (I'm very bad at converting) That would be an enormous space :) Its all about the square area, so that would be much bigger than a 2ft by 4ft, even if it wasnt as long. :)
