I'd love some tips, photos and advice on how I could join both cages once my girls are introduced and bonded. They have to stay on these separate units due to space.

Do the sides that are facing each other open? If so, you could maybe get 3 or 4 C&c grids and join them with that (cable tie the grids to the cages), then just line the base grid which will act like a ramp.

Yes I think they do. I have an interlocking cube unit to use but it's solid, might work though. What could I use to line a ramp?

I have two ferplast cages pushed together. I have 4 c and c grids secured together with zip ties as a ramp and got a door mat to line the ramp with which I was in with my fleece. My biggest issue with my set up is that the cage is by having one wall of each cage removed it is quite unstable so I can only open one door at a time safely. I can get you some pics of my set up if that would help.

Thank you, photos would be great. A doormat is a great idea. My panels are smooth but I can cable tie at the corners.

I wonder if I could make a hole in one of the sticks either end and cable tie it on?
We took out the ends & cable tied them both together then a log roll bridge over the join, they loved it
You must take out the ends completely or they might catch them selfs. It should be stable, ours was.

Take out the ends of what?

I wonder if I could just use the one cage and use the solid panels I've got to build an extension 3/4 the length of the unit? What could I use as a floor if I did this as my unit is wood and needs protecting? My only worry with this is the piggies might be able to climb out. I wish c&c cages/panels weren't so expensive.

Here's my whole set up. Poor pigs thought I'd come into feed them and then had to wait while I took pics before they got their dinner. My favourite thing about this set up is i can have one half fleece and the other half filled with hay. I loved having all fleece but hated having to try and get the hay off it when it came time to wash it, but this way the pigs get their hay to forage in and can still have some comfy fleece.

The sides are folded up on top of the cage, when I open the left cage door I fold the sides over on to the top of the right cage, and vice versa, it helps stabilise the cage so the top doesn't cave in so I can only open one cage door at a time. (I hope that makes sense, not sure I've explained it well.)

This is the ramp, I was really lucky to find a door mat that covers the ramp perfectly. I chose to make a ramp that covers the whole area because i tried using the wooden bridges but my guinea pigs would always just jump over the sides and not use the bridge, even when one was really old and struggled to jump over the ledge.

This is the c and c grids that make up the ramp, i folded them at the top so there's a flat surface at the top of the ramp for my pigs to sit on, they love sitting there.

Hope these pics help you come up with a way to join your two cages. you'll have to show us the finished result when it's done.

That's very helpful thank you, lovely set up. I'm researching to see if I can do a c&c that covers the whole desk which would be 58" long and 23.5" wide with view to later extending it onto the unit but I might have to join the two I have first.

You can use plastic coated grids that you get from eBay which are a lot cheaper.I use them for my herd.Interlocking storage is the search I used.Hope this helps.
