A little thread to show how great my little 6 and a half year old girly has done after her eye removal on the 17th Oct. She’s now off the Zithromax and the Metacam and back to her brilliant, bonkers little self!

Evening after the surgery bless her.

Little knock the week after and stitch slightly separated, scab had formed :(

Still very sleepy and a slightly dodgy tummy from the meds. Was having to syringe feed as really off her food. Put on a happy face for mummy though!

Knocked the scab off out at play time last week (no idea how), flashbacks to Pedro the chin!

But healed well.

And this morning, bribed with half a grape as wouldn't sit still, definitely Jess again!

As she latched onto my nail (prob a whiff of grape!) and did laps around the sofa!
Yay success! 😁😁And no more nasty meds!

On Thursday I did notice (as she was so much better) that her cagemate Luigi became pretty territorial, I even saw a few lunges when she was trying to eat which shocked me. I’m putting it down to that he’s had a cage to himself really for two weeks as she was so quiet. And they’ve only been together since the end of June so kind of new pals really. Three hayracks and bowls, cage changed around a couple of times a day and not seen anything since. So hopefully he’s realised the boss is back to normal now!

Thanks @Claire W, so chuffed she’s done so well! Hopefully that’s it and she can just enjoy being a piggy now after her couple of weeks of stress! Thanks for your help again :) How’s Harrison now? xx

Glad she is doing well, :tu:
Hopefully she will stay well and not go down the same path as your Pedro Chinchilla.

No we’re almost 99% in the clear I think! (Touching giant trees!) Judging by my only other eye removal op with a beasty (that lasted nearly a year!) By day 3 poor Pedro had eyelids rotting away from infection, second op and then the rest!
She’s currently zooming around the living room and you wouldn’t think it’d happened! I’ve kind of got used to her with it missing now too :)) But she’s doing the ‘Ped head’ thing of checking the room out that she’s missing  Elderly piggle but you wouldn’t think it!
Thanks so much everyone, so happy she’s done so well. Deserves it bless her, she’s a crazy but blooming lovely little girl, getting my loopy face licks again so makes me happy too :clap:Been a rubbish couple of months for me so to see her happy again means the absolute world xx

Yes, Pedro's health declined and I was hoping he wasn't in a lot of pain the entire time. The poor chap.
One thing is very clear to me, he was very much LOVED,

Pedro’s health improved a lot, he was a happy little guy or I wouldn’t have carried on with all the treatment. He wasn’t in pain as on metacam for 11months really, varying in strength. I knew him very well after all the years we had together.
It was within three days the last infection took him and he was sent to rainbow bridge. I have pics but I don’t want to post, haven’t on his thread either as they’re very upsetting. I wouldn’t have carried on with his treatment (as I wouldn’t with Jess) if I thought he was in pain or suffering. Sorry just had to say 😢
Very much loved though 😍

Its strange how animals when not doing well or something is up, before they go un fixable, they go on an up, seen it in my dog and two old boar guinea pigs, a few gerbils, and even in law relatives. Jess doesn't count by the way, so I'm not trying to worry you there at all

Beautiful Jess, so glad you are better and bouncing around, well done Becci, you have been so dedicated x

Thanks so much, she’s definitely a wonder piggy @rhymer :D xx
Think I might just be mad too though @Bill & Ted! :))Sleeping on the sofa for a week syringe feeding an elderly, one eyed guinea pig in between my annoying brain problems! Yep, I’m definitely not normal to some people haha x
