Hi guys,

So here is the shelter:

(Sorry photo isn't the best quality)
With the much needed help of a family member and neighbour, we got it done!
All that needs to be done now is it needs to be painted, a hinge needs to be put on the door and maybe a pull-down blind will be put on the front.
:D
Piggies are now much safer!
Also today I'm putting the plastic wire in the corner of the photo around the bottom of the fence so a) the cavys can have some grass floor time (they never get floor time) and b) if the hutch does blow over again (which it won't with the new shelter) they are safe and can't run away.

xx

Wow, I love this. I'd like to do the same with my hutch! Never thought of actually constructing something like this, currently it just gets covered with tarpaulin which isn't ideal as it blocks light and air.

Thanks! :)
Tarpaulins are quite good, I used one as well, but I live near the coast and it acted as a sail to blow
the hutch over so I (we) built this. If you've got a lot of old material and some good power tools it's quite easily built (in a day). ;)

I'm not practiced at DIY-ing but with some thought put into it maybe I could construct something. It looks fab! The tarpaulin I find awkward to deal with too... plus the hidden spiders which sneak into it... argh :o

Oh yeah the spiders....... gosh I had a huge one once, jumped out at me....
Hope DIY-ing things goes well for you; there are so many things you can DIY, even cosy cups and snuggle sacks!

well done, it looks like they will be much more protected now :) Can you still move it all around your garden?

Thanks; yes I can, but it can't be dragged so 2 people have to move it, whoever is closest to me at the right time is the chosen one! (to help)
