Well my little girls cage arrived yesterday, and today we put it together, now all I have to do it wait two weeks till we bring them home, literally am feeling so impatient but I know it will be worth it.
And my OH got two goldfish today so he is happy too, aha, the picture doesn't do it justice it's massive.
Sorry about the washing basket in the corner, I just took the washing out of the tumble dryer hehe.

The cage looks good! What's the size of it all together? I haven't seen this one before.

I'd be impatient too! Waiting for them is hard :D

yay! happy day! No wonder you want to get it all set up and the pigs in, don't you just love a home upgrade and seeing the piggies reactions as they explore? :)

It's the Baffy 100 - 3Levels, as short of space in a small flat, this is ideal as it goes up and its on wheels. It's a brilliant cage, obviously I will do a better review when the girls are in and see how they get on but I am very happy with it so far, it's just lacking piggies :(

I bought it from Zooplus and it took a week to arrive. http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/small_pets/hutches_cages/guinea_pig_cages/100_cm_cages/137454

Well I don't get them yet as they're only 3 weeks old, so another two weeks and they will be coming home. But now their home is ready I want them now, just have to be patient, like I said it will all be worth it in the end.

Darn - that's going to seem like a long long wait!

It already is, I first saw them when they were a week old, and knew about them when they had been born so have been waiting 3 weeks so far, another 2 won't harm me :) But it's really starting to get real now.

I have one of those myself. Very handy and the pigs love it.

Based on the dimensions on the website, it's only 100cm wide and 53cm deep. That's about 5.6 square feet. It is too small for two pigs. A recommendation for two pigs is 8 sq.ft. This cage will work since they are still babies, but you'll probably have to upgrade once they are older. Levels don't count towards square footage.

Ramp looks steep to me. You might need to add something to make it less steep. Again, this should be okay for babies, since they are more agile. Once they are older, you might also need to add guard rails for the ramp.

Yes we are going to add rails to the ramps, we have thought that our selves, and I doubt the pigs are going to be on the same level all the time, like I said I only live in a small flat so I had to find a cage that went up instead of out. The cage is absolutely huge, I think if you saw it you would change your mind.

Hi, your cage looks great :D you can get tunnels for the ramps, they just go over the top of them :D I love how you've set it up ready.. now you've just got to wait for the piggies.. doh.

In regards to cage sizes I think the person was pointing it out because it's what the RSPCA recommends?

Have a look at the links below :)

I believe companies should say how many guinea's, rabbits etc can go into cages, but they don't.

It's a bit of a pain when you don't have the room, I'm having the same problem myself since I moved into a bungalow.

Anyway! I hope you have a great time being a guinea pig owner, they are gorgeous little animals :)

Thank you, just the comment seemed a bit vindictive that was all, I'm not a bad person, I've seen pictures on the site where people had 4 piggies in the cage so I don't think 2 will be a problem, oh where can I get these tunnels? If that would be easier.

Thanks for your lovely comment.

Some people just have different ways of wording things I guess :)

I think someone was selling a couple on here.. let me see if I can find the thread :)

I don't know what that other person was on about "Levels don't count".... How does that logic work? How does floor space become void just because it's not the ground floor? Bit rude.

Poldark and Sage live in a two-tier cage and would be SO jealous! It looks amazing, no wonder you can't wait! x

Beats me :P It is amazing I won't lie, I literally said to my OH I would love to live in it tehe :)) think I'm slightly to heavy and big and it would end up in a heap on the ground.

I love your cage. I have a double ferplast rabbit 120 and have four piggies living in there.

I have a ramp tunnel that I brought from C and E cosies http://www.candecosies.co.uk/ramp-tunnels

The owners are not taking any orders right now due to having a baby but they should be up and running again soon.

Oh that's great I'm going to be looking into all of these, as soon as we put the ramps up we realised they were too steep so we knew straight away we were going to sort them out, thanks for referring me to this site. Well I think it's going to be too big in all fairness but nothing but the best for the pigs :)

@anniedabannie it's done by square feet rather than floors.. Lookie at this, it's from North Star Rescue page.

"General Cage Size Requirements
You will need a cage that provides at least 7.5 square feet of flat open space for 1-2 guinea pigs, with an additional 1.5 square feet of flat open running space for each additional guinea pig in the same habitat. Flat open running space means an open square or rectangular area that is uninterrupted by ramps, walls or other connections to additional areas.

There are many benefits of having an appropriately sized guinea pig cage. An appropriately sized cage will not get dirty as quickly, which will create less of an ammonia build up and keep your guinea pigs healthier. Guinea pigs in larger cages are more likely to exercise on their own, increasing their lifespan and decreasing the risk of obesity or muscular related health concerns like impaction. Guinea pigs who live in social groups are more likely to get along with their cagemates if they have ample room to interact, and also get space to themselves if they do not want to play with other guinea pigs and need some private time. Guinea pigs in large cages also tend to be less depressed, quiet pets and will be more likely to be talkative, playful and outgoing when they feel happy and healthy."

Also the RSPCA recommend

120cm x 60cm x 45cm

I think that's what she was trying to get at. I don't think they meant to be rude, I think it was just the way they said it.

It looks great.. Am sure they will love it and at least you have got them something a lot lot bigge than some shop bought tiny cage x

Hey,

I have the size up from this which is the baffy 120 3 level, I separated it up into 3 separate cages and keep a pair in each... I've shown their cage before in the commercial cage thread but I'd thought you might like to see it, in-case you feel they need just that bit more space but your cage looks great!

It's really sturdy coming up to 2 years old now and it's still like new and super easy to clean out and move.

My six piggies are normally zooming about and popcorning so they must like it too ;)

My only issue is they like pulling they hay all out the hay racks...

Oh wow, I would of gotten the bigger one but it wouldn't fit in the space we have for it, and for two piggies I think it's huge, I like what you have done with yours, that's a great idea, I guess you have a mixture of boys and girls then to of split them up?

Did you have any problems with the wheels? I think we may need to hammer ours in more just as they fall out a lot! Other then that it is great and I can't wait to get the girls home.

I'm getting something for the inside for hay just as I can't have the mess all over the floor :P

Thanks so much for showing me your's, it's always great to get other peoples feedback and such!

Hahaha oh yeah the wheels i forgot mine did fall out to begin but like you said i got some super glue and put on the inside where they slot in, seemed to do the trick, you have to push them in quite hard if i remember, hammer might work well i didn't think of that!

^ yeah the hay mess is annoying me i'm just not too sure what to do, i was thinking hay bags?
