my satin Guinea pig has been scratching a lot which is normal I guess but she keeps getting cuts and bumps on her she also barbers a lot I’m not sure if she has mites or something

Welcome to the forum. My boy Mischievous Master Boris is also a satin. How old is your little girl? Is she the cream one in your profile picture?
I agree with the advice above, especially with a satin.

She’s close to a year old now I didn’t think that the scratching really had anything to do with the satins but I guess it might lol. Yes she’s the cream one.

Please do see a vet.
Barbering can be due to discomfort/pain in a specific area.
The scratching may be because she has mites

okay thank you I will try vets are very expensive but I want her to get better

Yes, vet fees can add up but this is something which needs a proper check and prescribed treatment. There are no short cuts when it comes to dealing with skin issues otherwise the issues are prolonged.
As I say barbering can be because of pain so it’s not something you want to delay in dealing with

I hope she is ok

Alright I’ll get her in as soon as possible thank you again

Scratching a lot is not normal. Some scratching is but if you see them doing it a lot or very forcefully, something is up. A healthy pig never scratches so much that there are bumps and bald spots, and ideally, you should get them treated before it gets to that.
It's good that you're going to the vet to check for underlying skin conditions, especially with a satin. That said, most of the time it is just mites. If there is excessive scratching and it hasn't escalated to the point you're describing, it often makes sense to try a mite treatment for small rodents yourself (available on amazon) and only go to the vet if that doesn't work within a couple days. You also need to thoroughly clean the entire enclosure within a day of beginning treatment and once again when all symptoms are gone so it doesn't come back.

:agr:

Please do not try any mite treatment from Amazon or pets shops yourself. They are too low dosed to be effective (mostly they suppress but won’t cure due to ivermectin content being too low).
Please just go to the vet straight away for the correct diagnosis - we never recommend any home treatment or any self diagnosis as you can easily get it wrong and make things worse - and to get the proper strength treatment dosed by weight from the beginning.
No point in wasting money on products which 1. You don’t know is even the right thing and 2. Is too low dosed to help anyway
