Hi, I'm concerned my piggies might have a skin problem. They scratch themselves quite a lot. When i checked their fur, Scribble has a lot of dark dandruff close to her skin on her lower back, and dark blobs with hairs attached shed off her and somtines tiny dark and light specs when i stroke her. Custard's fur looks pretty clean, no dark specs, but few small light flakes near to skin. They both seem to go through phases where they shed a lot, in the cage and when i stroke them. Could this be mites, or ive heard of fungal but i dont know much about it. Ive heard that gorgeous guineas lice shampoo is good, but is it a good idea to try this?

I will try attach photos of scribbles fur, but the photos aren't very good.

It looks and sounds very much like it might be mites, but this will require a hands on examination and proper diagnosis by a vet.
Using shampoos or pet shop products are unlikely to treat the problem properly, and may just mask the symptoms making an accurate diagnosis harder.

I would pop them both along to the vet and hopefully they will be able to give you a clear answer and proper strength medication (if needed).
