Itching after handling piggies

You may be allergic to them or their hay. My husband is allergic to their hay but still itches and comes out in rashes if he handles the piggies as they live in hay.
He takes antihistamines. You could try that?

Hi guys!
Does anyone else really itch after holding their pigs? Sometimes it’s not a problem, then other times I get really itchy and end up in red rashes. Can anyone relate or advise?

You may be becoming allergic to the tiny urine particles that fetch up in a guinea pig coat. See whether over the counter anti-histamines do the trick. I am on them for my own hay fever and hives when in close contact with guinea pigs for prolonged periods. Thankfully that is all I need.
If things get worse, then please seek medical help.
