I took my lil furbaby to the vet this after noon due to health issues as well as getting his nails trim and ears cleaned but concern is I deep cleaned his cage and gave him all fresh food water and hay. he was even backed up some and they cleaned him out , but he still has not pooped except for a little here and there. is there anything i can do to help him poop more that is safe ?

What are the health issues? And how old is he? (Older) boars can suffer from impaction. However, not pooing is due to not eating enough hay. It’s the biggest part of their diet, so eating veg and pellets isn’t enough. They’re merely snacks. Poo output is 1-2 days behind so he wasn’t eating enough hay then. How has his weight been?

If he’s not eating hay you will need to syringe feed him regularly (2-4 hourly). Start weighing him every day at the same time and adjust the syringe feeding accordingly. You’re aiming for 60-90ml in a 24 hour period.

he does get plenty of hay and food. I scrub the cages when i clean them out as well as fresh food water and hay daily. he had some breathing issues but that was taken care of thanks to his vet and he left me some surprises this morning. due to him getting sick he lost an once and i got him into his vet right away. I didn't want to take any chances. he also loves his veggies and fruits, mainly the spring mix and carrots.

Hay needs to make up the majority of their diet. Carrots are high in sugar and should not be fed too often - max once a week. Fruits should also only be given as a treat, also once a week. Pellets should be kept to one tablespoon per each piggy day for each piggy. How has his weight been? Is he gaining/maintaining now?

:agr:
if a guinea pig isnt producing much poop, then it’s usually due to a reduced hay intake (veg is not a main part of the diet, they should only have 50 grams of veg per day). Being on medication for another illness can upset the tummy, cause lack of appetite and consequently reduced hay intake, weight loss, and reduced poop output. This is why you need to syringe feed fibre (a recovery feed) when a piggy is ill.
