I bought an 8 panelled run for my two boars to house them in.
I put down a shower curtain, newspapers, towels and fleece down.
They've been like this now for about a month but they've been chewing the shower curtain around the sides which I solved by cutting the curtain shorter but now they've been pulling up the towels and newspaper and trying to chew the shower curtain just on the inside of the edges.
I'm worried they will chew through to the carpet and wee on it.

I've seen a ferplast 140cm cage on eBay would it be cruel to go from there run which is 127cm long x 122cm wide to the 140cm x 70cm?

I would not give them less space. Have you tried adding another fleece just loosely for them to burrow under? I do this and it stops mine going under the vetbed.

They are digging up the edges because they know the shower curtain is underneath. I dont think adding a loose fleece will stop them.
I just really worried they will chew overnight now and get to the carpet. Our house is rented and i had to ask the landlord if I could have guinea pigs as well as them agreeing to our german shepherd and rats.

You could put down lino underneath the run and then they can't dig.would save the carpet

Do you think they'd chew the correx?
Wiggy seems to be a chewer.
Cleared them out today and as soon as I layed it all down he was there in a different corner pulling up the sides and shredding the newspaper to get to the Lino.

Do you think it would cause problems then if I went from 122cm x 127cm to the ferplast 140 x 70cm?
I know it's not as wide but it's longer.

This is there current set up

And the culprit

I rand a sign maker and asked if they had plastic corrugated board and they called it correx. I told them i wanted it for a guinea pig cage and they sold me a sheet for 14euro. It was 9mm thick but 4mm would be fine.
Otherwise could you put the ferplast in/beside the run and let them have the run of the run when you are in and put them in cage at night?

Not unless I take some panels off of the 8 panel run now. Otherwise the cage plus the run would be way to big to fit in the dining room.

If the correx spills out of the wire edges, they will not be able to chew anything s there is nothing to get a grip on (This is if the correx is flat.) Hope you understand what I mean.

Good Luck and be sure to tell us what you decide x

So you don't think they be able to get there bottom teeth and sort of scrape with there teeth on the Lino floor? Sorry I'm not good at explaining things lol.

If you use fleece that's longer and wider than the cage, your pigs shouldn't be able to dig it up.
Set the grids on top of the fleece.

The culprit is adorable!

No i don't think so, but you could put fleece on top of it to make sure? x

Yes or you can attach plastic strips to the correx. I have done this by drilling through plastic strips from homebase and cable tying tocorrex will get you a pic

Heres the strip just slip onto correx drill small hole in long side through the vorrex too then add cable tie. Ive had my cage for 5 years and no chewing20140105_213718.webp
