Tangle has teeth issues and renal problems and I have been feeding him critical care aimed at a 1kg guinea. He just isn’t putting on weight, he also isnt really eating at all. The vet wants him to gain weight before the dental but it just isn’t happening. I am worried he is so thin, I am not sure he is going to put any weight on before the dental. What should I do, ask for a dental anyway or keep trying to put weight on him.

Many thanks for help.

How much critical care in ml is he getting per day?

A healthy piggy would eat the equivalent of 100-120ml per day. So if he isn’t eating anything for himself, then 60ml is the minimum amount to maintain weight (40ml being the minimum to keep them alive). So knowing how much he is getting now is the key to working out whether he will be able to gain weight.
Do remember that putting lost weight back on takes a lot longer than losing it.
