jack and Murray have been together in the same set up for about a month maybe a bit more. I thought they had bonded well with them both settling , I assumed Murray is top pig.
Last night at three in the morning world war 3 broke out. Rumbling loudly , mounting ,chat erring teeth relentless running around. Jack at one point flew at Murray. Murray 18 months now mounting Jack continuously , noses in the air , Jack squealing not in pain tho. Low squealing Murray also not squealing just mummering, very confusing. Murray refusing Jack anywhere to sleep there is two big sleeping quarters for them, but Murray was having none of it. Anyway it carried on after breakfast then by dinner it seemed to settle, now this evening after their tea, served up in seperate bowls, they are sharing the same sleeping quarters, no snuggling just asleep near one another. Is this normal behaviour for boars? jacks 11 months now. Hope I don't have another sleepless night x

It can sometimes happen as late as that; thankfully, things have calmed down again. it looks still good that your two boys will stay together despite a little hormonal flare.

if necessary, just separate for a night or a day to give the homronal boy time to calm down and then do an intro on neutral ground after a bath to remove the testosterone stink (the same goes for a cage clean).

Thankyou. I was going to seperate this afternoon but it's seems all quite now, but I'll keep a close eye. Will this sort of thing happen periodically ? No injuries either as far as I can see.

If you are lucky, it was just one-off. It can happen very occasionally with adult boars, sometimes after a move to another cage/home, but it rarely leads to a full fight/break-up. Adult boars usually go back together without any major problems once their tempers have settled down again. ;)

I read somewhere that if you cuddle one pigg without the other top piggie can get upset. Jack did have a little cuddle last night. Murray doesn't like cuddles get an occasional sniff of my hand xx any truth to it have you found xx

If you cuddle, groom, medicate or treat both piggies, you always start at the top following piggy etiquette. If the top boy is not into cuddling, then he won't be too bothered about being left out. ;)

Thankyou x didn't know that good job I've only got two !

It is more important when you have a very dominant/jealous/possessive top piggy than a laid back one.
I've had Murray since he was 10 weeks old Andy my other piggy died before his first birthday, Murray bit him a lot so I seperated them. Jack was Andys replacement so Murray had a friend Jack was 12weeks when I got him, maybe that's why he's dominant ! X thanks again xx

following on from my recent thread the boys have settled after their little outburst pleased to say. My concern is Jack is omitting a low squeek not a pain squeek, just a low squeek. Any ideas ? I have checked him no injuries, he's eating fine, possibly just bieng submissive. Any help would be appriciated thanks xx

It is likely to be submission.

Could you please keep any updates in an ongoing issue together, please. That makes it much easier to give you the appropriate advice when we can look up the previous posts and remind ourselves of the circumstances. Thanks!

Oh yes sorry I will do silly me didn't think . Thanks I'll keep an eye out for any changes in Jack just in case. Thanks again x

Nothing to worry; it is more grumbling to himself...

He is just drawing the line, but it is not aggressively.
