exercise balls are bad for guinea pigs I'm afraid.. they can really injure their backs.. so i wouldnt buy it

Oh my.

This doesn't make sense. I can't figure out what else to buy them as a toy or toys....any suggestions?

Here are LOTS of good ideas - and cheap ones as well!

Guinea pigs do not have very flexible spines, so you get far too many unsuitable toys by people who want to make a quick buck with blown up hamster toys or ferret leashes.

The reference section contains a good collection of threads that answer many of the most often asked newbie questions. It is worth having a snoop around!

Personally I feel that what is suggested there, isn't toys at all. :\

You know and I know, we really want to give them a fantastic life. But things like a paper ball and paper bag? I really don't think they will love their owner for providing them with that. :x

Have you asked your guinea pig?

My group have just spent several happy hours wrecking a hay filled Primark shopping bag. Anything rustling is top fun for them! Toilet rolls and plain paper bags are also safe to eat. Have you considered that?

Guinea pigs do not play like dogs or cats and they are not as hyperactive as hamsters.

Of course, you are completely free to spend as much money as you want on expensive toys. Just do not be disppointed if they get ignored...

I would also ask you to please check out any natural material toys you want to buy for hidden wires. Some of our members on here had some nasty surprises with rusty wire frames which could have caused nasty injuries.

The all-time favourite "toy" i give mine is one huge pile of hay in the middle fo their cage/hutch. They dive into it, popcorn on it or under it & wheek their excitement. :)

Just to add: My piggies have access to hay 24/7 in their racks & as bedding but hay in a rack isn't quite the same as having a huge pile on the floor; they exhibit the same behaviour as above when their hutch is newly cleaned -which is before the hay gets trampled & toileted on :)

Has anyone messaged these sellers to tell them its not suitable?

If you really want a shop bought type toy go for wooden chews, toys made out of willow (ie willow sticks etc..) or alternatively you could try hay balls, They are so much fun for pigs. They are a hanging metal mesh ball which you fill with hay and they spend ages trying to get at it. I have also filled mine with lettuce / carrot and that goes down a treat too!

Shredded Paper in the balls goes well with mine too lol!

the most simple toys are actually the best.

Guineas love to chew and explore, as well as hide, so I find mine love cardboard boxes with hay stuffed inside.

yes cardboard boxes go down well here too until they wee on them and chew them so much they collapse and then mummy has to throw them away much to the pigs dismay :))
