Is this Timothy hay?

Hi,

I recently purchased some Oxbow Timothy Hay, I've bought it for several years but this time it isn't the lush green it normally is, smells completely different (not bad just different) and is a lot more "stalky".

(Note, the greener stuff on the right is 12 month old oxbow hay for comparison- it is much greener)

Is this just the difference between first and second cut?

The stuff on the left looks the same as the Timothy Hay I buy from P@H. The stuff on the right looks a LOT tastier, and a lot more fun though

Did you purchase the hay from oxbow? If you did i would email them or phone the place you bought it from and ask them to change it. The quality doesn't look right and especially if you paid the high price for good quality hay and you didnt get it.

I did notice on another forum that many people have had bad batches of hay from oxbow and they have exchanged them for a better batch.

I have seen bags of Burgess Excel hay next to each other on the shelf at P@H with this colour difference. I suspect the yellow one has been bleached by the sun.

Thanks all, it wasn't direct from Oxbow but one of the good online sellers, so will contact them.

i have only bought one thing of timothy hay, and it looked like the one on the left but was the colour of the one on the right x

Can I just reassure everyone that the problem with Karls order has now been resolved. I hope you got my ansaphone message Karl.
Apparently there has been a few problems with the last batch of Western Timothy Hay by Oxbow and a number of boxes have had to be sent back to them by various suppliers and they have all been replaced.
A new batch arrived in the country today and I have asked Oxbow to send out a fresh box direct to Karl save him waiting for it to come to us first and then us post it on.
