Is this the infamous popcorning?

Pigglywink's Rachel

Well, I reorganized the guinea pig hutch a little bit tonight, in order to accomodate a plastic litter tray (since the girls seem about 3/4 of the way to being litter trained), including a log bridge going over the edge of the tray with a nice open space between the tray and the end of the bridge. I noticed that both girls seem much happier (possibly due to the change in food, as well), but Dite in particular was whirling around like a dervish... running from one end in figure eights through the cage, and doing this weird jump/sideways leap. Is this jumping and leaping the popcorning that people mention? Or is Dite just possessed by the spirit of a ballerina?

it sounds like popcorning my lovely! the more they look like they're fitting, the more happy they are! its a lovely sight xxxxxxxxx

Defo popcorning! Yey happy pigs....one of mine does this is frightened me lots first time i saw him but now i know he's jst having a fab time!

very cute when they do it they usually start with a few jumps straight in the air and then george in particular popcorns and jumps & turns 180 degrees in the air very cute and funny to watch :))

I noticed Pepper doing it when I moved her from a shop brought cage to my home made c&c cage...I think that just says it all really..I was really pleased as its so nice to see them happy... x)
I think its great how expressive they are and each in their own way....peanut makes what I can only describe as a 'fffuft' noise when I open their fridge and take off the lid to the veggie containers...

My Gerty did the same when I put her in her new C&C cage - she loved it. It's great to see piggies popcorning :)

Billy popcorned for the first time since I've had him today when I introduced him to his new friend. It was so great to see!

Well, I've just put a C & C run together for them, need to get some chubes and another wood bridge to put in there for them then they can give it a try tonight. Hoping that I'll be able to see more popcorning, and as it's completely open (sorry, Sunny, you'll need to go to the bedroom, but I'll give you some nice tuna to keep you company), I'll be able to see what they're doing. It's huge... 6 feet by 3 feet, and I'm sure they'll love their floor time in there.

I love watching my piggies popcorning its so funny and nice to know they are happy :)

My piggies only popcorn when I've completely cleaned their cages, I think they have OCD!

It is adorable to watch though, makes me feel like I'm doing something right!
:)

mine popcorn all the time! especilly when i put vetbed in the cage and the more i laugh the more they do it LITTLE SHOWOFFS! lol

Well, I put down the Pro-Fleece today, and I have two very happy piggies now, except that Dite now looks like she doesn't have legs, as they disappear completely into the fleece, with her being so small, still. But I actually saw Caramel popcorning after putting them back in after switching over, and they immediately dove into their food dishes, and even nudged around the water bottle, which they've never done before (that I've ever seen), so taking this as a good sign. Dite's a little subdued however, after popcorning quite happily face-first into the wall.
