We have this run and we're hoping to use it for our indoor pigs along with their small cage. .

Will it be ok? We'll put a floor down and probably use fleece as a base.

Those of you who use runs - do leave them in the run 24/7 or do you put away at night?

As I say, they will be indoors in their own room which is our spare room/study so they will have company all evening

Hi! I actually have a homemade cage that is basically one of those runs with fleece bedding on the floor. They live in it 24/7, except for when we release them for floortime. They're absolutely fine and safe - much sturdier than some flimsy cages you can get. We had them in the cage inside this run set up before, but in the end just got rid of the cage because there was no point in it being there. As long as the run is secure and safe, there's no reason that they can't live in it imo

Excuse it looking a bit bare and dishevelled - we were mid-clean

That's brilliant. I love the way you've used the under stairs area. I can see we have our bank holiday weekend planned out now. It will be a little bare to start with but we've got some toys and will add other stuff for them as we go along.

Best of luck! Will you post a picture when it's finished? I'd love to see it :)

I'd put something under the fleece like a plastic picnic sheet to protect the floor then towels on top then fleece on top of that. Make sure you have hidey's in there for them also and they will feel very happy and secure

Oh! What a great idea! I have huge oilcloth type table cloth that I don't use. I was going to wait until we could buy some lino or similar but we can use the cloth, some towels and then the fleece. The pet shop is closed tomorrow. Would it be ok to make hidey holes out of cardboard boxes for the time being?

Yes forgot to mention about the underlay! We also use puppy pads with the plasticy bottom with towels on top - just be sure they can't get to the waterproof underlay in case they eat it, but towels then fleece on top should be fine.
And cardboard boxes make great hideys as long as they have multiple exits so they can't corner each other. They might chew it but rarely swallow it and as a general rule they're pretty safe. My piggies prefer to sleep in the open even with the option of their hideys, but I suspect that's due to the shelter of the stairs. Strange pigs indeed!

Proper cardboard boxes are fine but not the highly coloured and shinny ones. Paper bags stuffed with hay are a big hit here too.
