Threepigs

We have had our 3 baby g-pigs for nearly 4 weeks now, but they still seem very nervous. We have three young boys, who make quite a lot of noise, so I guess this could be part of the issue.

Today I put them in the run with no children in sight, for about an hour. They spent the entire hour hiding under a box I has put there for them. Is this normal, or have we scared them half to death with our noisyness?

They will still be getting used to their new surroundings and noises I wouldnt worry, they will come round in their own time :) Have you been hand feeding them bits of veg and talking to them?

Not really hand feeding them (though they do get through enormous amounts of green stuff). We do talk to them. The pen is one that the children can get into too, so we all sit in there with them on our laps. They seem happy enough to be petted in that way, but given half the chance, just hide!

Maybe you could hand feed them their favourite veg, just hold the veg through the bars and they will eventually come to you. It just takes time :)

Yes, give it time.
They will get used to the noise and if your sons are handling them gently, then I am sure the piggies will become more friendy soon.
Some breeds are a bit more timid than others, but it just really comes down to personalities.

As suggested above, try coaxing them to take food from your hand.
