Hello Everyone,
I am a fairly new Guinea Pig owner and recently (maybe once every 3 or so weeks) both of my female guinea pigs seem to walk slowly behind each other sniffing and making low purring sounds. At first I was worried but I checked their sex, just to make sure the pet shop at which we bought them at didn’t tell us wrong. But they both look the same and female. Could anybody tell me if this is a normal action, or give me any further advice please?

Hi and welcome

This is normal behaviour of sows coming into season.

You can find more detailed information on sow behaviour and strong seasons in this guide link here, which you will hopefully find very helpful: Sows: Behaviour and female health problems (including ovarian cysts)

This guide is part of our much more extensive practical and informative New Owners guide collection, which is one of the most comprehensive information resources currently around. You may want to bookmark the link, browse, read and re-read at need.
The guide links will explain things in more depth than we can in a post, considering that we are all doing this for free in our own free time.
