I got a guinea pig as a gift for my birthday 4 days ago and I am new to guinea pigs so pardon my ignorance. He's young and has been eating, drinking and sleeping fine. I thought his breathing looks a bit harsh.... I attached a video. Any ideas?

I haven’t opened the video but if you are concerned about breathing in a piggy then please see a vet. It’s never worth risking when it comes to breathing issues and only a hands on check by a vet listening to the chest can tell you if there is something wrong

Does piggy have a companion? Guinea pigs are social creatures and should not be kept alone.

Morning. His breathing looks a little harsh to me. I have 4 pigs and none breath like that.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Any breathing issues need to be checked out with a vet. Piggies can become ill very quickly as they hide their illnesses well.

I'm not an expert, but none of my piggies have ever breathed like that. I would take him to a vet as quickly as possible. Health problems in piggies progress very quickly. Best of luck, I hope he's okay!

Thanks all for input, I'm looking for a vet at the moment.

Best wishes to you and the little guy! It must be so stressful to have this happen so soon after getting him.

Oh dear, I'm sorry to see your little one breathing this way. I hope you have managed to get him to the vet. Please keep us posted and let us know how he is doing. I hope he is OK. 🙏
