My boar was impacted not too long but I was able to remove the impaction with help of someone else. But then yesterday I noticed his bum appearing widened like this and I tried to treat it like I would impaction, and it receded down to normal, but then it popped back out again today. Is this widened anus impaction or something that he should see a vet for? Would appreciate any help. Once I figure out how to upload images in here I would love to show you all

Hello. Underneath where you type there is a green button which says “attach files” with a paper clip. Click that and choose your photo. Then press insert full image and it should attach. Hope that helps.

yes it does look that way, this looks like a waxy secretion which can build up. Can you carefully remove it and see what comes out behind it, probably softer poo
In would check his bottom twice a day and remove any build up, not a nice job but over time you will become very proficient and will take no time at all. If you are at all concerned have him checked by a guinea pig savy vet

Hello. My boars bottoms do this when they are scent marking. But it always goes back in straight away. If your boar is like this all the time you definitely need to get him seen by a vet. Impaction is where there is very soft poop clogged in there. Does he have poop in there too? That would need cleaning as often as necessary. I used to have an impacted older boar. I had to clean him every day.
