I have managed to find out who manufactures this and have emailed them for you to find out. I did manage to find this written about it too
"Is airflow dust extracted and very clean.
Is very economical.
Usually half to one bale per week is sufficient to maintain an established bed. Has a neutral pH making it a useful fertilizer.
Decomposes quickly leaving a smaller muck heap.
Is highly absorbent, retaining ammonia at floor level, resulting in diminished smell.
Is supplied in compact 120 litre bales"

Something that I also found out about how flax is made from the hemp/flax plant is a process called Retting
"The process whereby either natural fungal and microbial action,
enzymes or chemical solutions are used to cause a break down
of the cells surrounding the fibre cells, so releasing them for
cleaning and processing"

This may suggest that chemicals are added, but I have mailed them for clarifcation and confirmation. Will let you know if/when I get any response.

The lady at my local rescue uses HippoFan flax, Jopack flax is also suitable. The thing to avoid is anything with essential oils, some contain citronella oil which is what is harmful to piggies.

Thats what I read on gorgeous guineas that the one with the citronella oil in is harmful for them.

Thanks both for the information.

Thank you Holiday hutch for email them. By any chance would you be able to get equisorb?

:)

Not hada reply from them as of yet. It isn't something we stock in bulk as there is a minumum order with them of 120 bales, I have asked at our usual horse bedding suppliers and they dont do it but I have found one other option and will give them a call to see if they stock it and can sell it to us singly.

Unfortunately they dont stock it either :( Basically they stopped doing it due to lack of demand. The only ones they suggested were rapport (no good as it contains citronella) or Aubiouse (no citronella).
Personally I dont like Aubiose for piggies as it is quite sharp and like little splinters to me and I worry about it getting in places it shouldn't.

Sam I have found a supplier local to me of Equisorb. I have bought a massive bag of it for my shed pen - it was £8.50

I can always get some for you or give you her number - she's rhiwbina in Cardiff - a couple of miles from my house.

I haven't tried it but am looking forward to it.
