Is This Cage Too Small?

I recently saw a YouTube video of a guinea pig running about it's cage, and someone commented that the cage wasn't big enough for one piggy, let alone the two that were in it.

But I'm sure that my cage is smaller than that. D:

This is their cage -

They both fit in that log cabin there.

Is it too small? D: They have a bigger house now that takes up more room. With food dishes, wood, etc. it does seem like they don't have enough room.

I would like to get a bigger cage, but I'm moving out soon to a place with a very small bedroom, so I'll have to have the bed switched for a single if I get a bigger cage, which means I'll be falling out most nights. ^^;

Can't tell without seeing it but mine are in one about that size each I think. I'd feel cruel with 2 in it.

Theres one at pets at home that's £60 I think it is. I'm just guessing the size it is compared to mine with like the house and stuff in it.

I think that looks like the one my two girls were in originally. It did look a bit cramped for both of them. Harry is now in there untill i have managed to bond him with my girls. I have upgraded them to this.

It's bigger then it looks in the pic. No way it would hold to rabbits comfortably, but my girls love it and it's a nice size for them.

At our nearest PAH, I've only seen one that appears to be either the Nero 2 or Nero 3. :C

It seem pretty big, going by the measurements. :0 It's a good price as well, so definitely one to consider. C:

Yep, price was pretty good i thought. The one in my pet shop was £60. This came to under that with postage. And delivery only took a couple of days. The people were really nice to deal with.

I've got that cage and it is small for two, I've only kept on in it. I keep two boys in this one

http://www.petsathome.com/invt/14038 you can buy it cheaper from zooplus

and I've added an extra level for them as it's quite tall

Yes they do ;) Indoor cages go right up to 140 cm (5ft). All my resident piggies are indoors and all the pairs/trios are in 6ft indoor cages. My personal opinion is that the 100cm cages (that includes the Nero 3) are too small, when you consider they spend most of the day in there they cant really exercise properly. They really do appreciate the extra space in the bigger cages :). You can get bigger indoor cages at a really cheap price these days 8)

These are really good indoor cages, I have one in my shed, well made and a bargain price

I have the 6ft x 2ft x 2ft versions of these. I have them stacked up but if you only had one you could use the top to store other things on ;)

What we don't know is the whole situation. The piggies might get a lot of time out of the cage in a run either inside or out, that might just be their sleeping quarters?

But if that isn't the case and the piggies stay in there all of the time with hardly any time out of it....then yes I think it is far too small for 2 piggies....and verging on too small for one.

My two boys are currently in the Nero 2 cage which cost me £34.99 from PaH. I can see that they are outgrowing it already although admittedly the cage does come with a plastic house which takes up a lot of room plus they are being naughty now and burrowing under it.

They are nearly 12 weeks old and getting bigger. They also don't get that much time out of the cage although I do get them out every evening. I decided to get the Nero 4 cage from PaH last weekend. They only had the de luxe version so it cost £70! To give you an idea of size, I struggled to get it in the back of my Ka! It wouldn't fit in the boot and I squeezed it on the back seats but the front passenger seat had to go forward. You can see the measurements on here: http://www.savic.be/DetAnimal.asp?group=Small Animal&fam=Rabbit cage&product=Nero 4 de luxe

If you can, get a bigger cage - the Nero 4 may be too big though.

Mine's similar sized to that. You can also attach two smaller ones together using a tunnel, I've seen that done on forums.

Well - I checked that the Nero 2 Guinea Pig Cage is like.. Only a tinytiny bit bigger than mine. o_O

So I'm considering getting this cage - http://www.bitsforpets.com/product_info.php?cPath=160_165&products_id=571 The Nero 3 Rabbit or Guinea Pig cage. It's not all that much bigger, but there's no way you could buy a bigger cage for two guinea pigs. =/

Places just don't sell cages bigger than that.

that cage in the link is 100x50, the minimum cage space you should give your piggies is 120x60. So its way too small.
the 120 ones are available EVERYWHERE - ebay, petshops, online petshops (like zooplus etc)... I got most of my stuff from Ebay. If you search for local items only, you can get real bargains - got mine for something like 20 pound, because I collected it myself, and didnt have to pay for postage.

That link that sgprescue posted is a good bargain aswell though - a 140 cage (even better than 120) for about 60 pound.. thats pretty cheap.

If you have the space though, I would try something similar to CC-Cages though, because I paid like 17 pound for mine?
10 quid for the grids, seven for a plastic tablecloth with two meter length.

If you dont want to buy a new cage Darky, you could always get some cc grids and put them around the cage, leaving the door open?

Kayso.

I've decided not to get a new cage.

This is because my piggies do get a lot of time outside of the cage - however, they are very inactive. So they just spend 24/7 laying or sitting there. That's just how they are.

When I move to my new place - they'll have even more freedom to run about in my new, muuuuch smaller room - it'll basically be one big guinea pig pen, and hopefully they'll start to become more active.

The only problem is that this place's garden is basically just concrete and nice plants, no grass. So I'm going to find out if my girlfriend's parents would allow me to take Fry and Laurie to their house sometimes in the spring and summer in a carrier (it's just a short walk away), so that they can go in their garden.

i have that cage and i would only keep one piggy in it if it had a cube pen built on the front or if they had the free range of the room.

I must admit that I bought the nero 3 at first for my two baby boys but they grew out of it within a month or so. I don't keep either one of them in there now because I think it's too small for them and they can't exercise when they want to. They don't have the space to run around. I'm sure you'll find your piggies become more ative with more space.
