Is This Cage Suitable?

I will also be getting them an indoor run and outdoor hutch/run :)

@Aimee2525 The RSPCA guidance is 120cm x 60cm x 45cm so that cage is okay, bigger than the minumum.

I've only ever had a C&C cage so I can't comment on how well my pigs have got on in a cage that size. One of the other forum members should be able to give you some personal experience.

Good luck with your new pigs, and welcome to the world of being a piggy slave!

It is quite a popular cage and is quite a nice size for two, it's certainly one of the larger commercial cages. The area on the right is often used for hay and piggies like to leap in to that :)
Is your indoor run going to be open-topped? I ask this because an increasing amount of people are creating cages from C&C grids (usually open topped), it's like having your piggies living in a permanent run. These have an advantage of being adjustable, you can create them as large as you like and to a shape that is convenient for your room :) Bigger is always best when it comes to piggies, the larger the space the more they can run around and you can fit enrichment items in such as tunnels and cosy-beds :)

I wouldnt feel comfortable with open top as i have a dog who isnt nasty, but likes to play with smaller animals and i think he would be too rough playing with them so i'd prefer them not to meet eachother :) they would have an indoor run inside my bedroom and an outdoor hutch with a run ,i just want to make sure they have a home they can be comfortable in, they will be ontop of a chest of drawers so not sure if c&c would be very secure? The drawer is 160cm x 50 :)

Oops never mind just realised you asked about the indoor run not the cage! Yes the indoor run will be opened top:)

I have a similar cage to that for my 2 girls. I consturcted a loft area into mine. In my opinion, there is plenty room for two fully grown piggies but I wouldnt have 3 in it. Hope that helps x

You were right the first time but I didn't really make my intentions clear when I asked :)
I asked because my logic was that if you are happy to have an open -topped run then you may be happy to have an open topped cage too, so a C&C may be an appealing option for you. However since you explained your circumstances I now know that's not the case, but I really can't see why they wouldn't like that cage that you are planning :) I've never had one of those but I've seen set-ups of other peoples and they look good :) x

Sounds good to me. I have a 150 x 73cm cage for my two girls. Its on the dining room table to keep them away from my dogs. I would like something bigger eventually.

I am planning to make them an upper level and a long ramp with sides to get to it.

I did a similar thing as @flowerfairy . This is a Little Friends 120 cage which I bought because the piggy in the picture was struggling to fit in with the herd and constantly frightened of them. I would have liked to have bought her a larger cage but I didn't anticipate having to find room for another cage at all, and that was the best option space-wise at the time. I did later integrate her and she lived successfully with them for a year, then it went to pieces again. Anyhow the cage is now a quarantine cage, as and when required.
Little Friends do a 160cm cage with a bigger floor space than the one you plan to get. It's very well made, solid and you can tell it's high quality, and high enough to build a second level BUT they are expensive at that size.

I know this is off topic but I bought her a snuggly igloo.. It took her weeks before she went inside it :) It amused me at the time so I thought I'd share.
