I used to have one of these cages for my rabbit. I bought a bigger one and sold this one thinking I will never need it. How wrong was I. lol.

It is not a full front opening, but hte door is large enough to get a pet out and easy cleaning. It is onlt £45.99 on ebay. Not a bad price for 4ft cage. The only other option for a full front opening is a 100mm cage which is nearly a foot shorter.

4 foot should be okay. But my gui9nea pig is happier if he has a solid roof above him

As a cage it is fine; it has plenty of access.

I don't see why not - 4ft is the minimum recommended space. You should be able to access her and clean it easily enough from the front opening there.

Have you thought about a C&C cage - a lot of forum members including me use them, have a look at this thread for ideas http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/member-gallery-c-c-cages-homemade-cages.53210/

I have looked at a lot of C&C cages and do like hte idea of making a large space for them. I dont have the room in my living room for a very large cage as we only have the livingroom and a kitched down stairs. Our house is quite small being a 2 bedroomed semi. I already have a 4ft rabbit cage, 4ft hamster cage and a 3ft hamster cage in the room. lol. My wife is starting to think we are living in a pet shop. lol. I might get a c&c cage set up if I can talk my wife into losing her computer desk and just use my laptop instead. The desk is 4ft x 2ft. Space for another cage, me thinks. lol.

A 4 foot rabbit cage is way too small for a rabbit to live in! The recommended minimum size is 6 foot. They cage meets the minimum requirements however the do make indoor cages up to 160cm or you could have a c&c cage with a loft? As more space is always better.

I am getting a hutch for her and use the cage with a large run / playpen in the winter as she will be in the house and not outside.

Haha sounds good! She doesn't need a desktop i'm sure :xd:

Lucky hamster with a 4 ft cage! Most of the pet shop cages are shoe box sized. You're welcome to post some pics of your other furry friends in the photos and videos section

I have got a C&C set-up as well; it is wonderfull versatile! mine is now taking up the dining room area that was never used - but then I have accumulated a bit more piggies over time!

If you have space issues, you might have a look at my two tier solution with an Ikea linnmon 75x150cm table that fits into a 2x4 C&C cage for another cage on the top, but still allows easy access to the bottom cage. For cleaning, I just lift the table slightly with my shoulders, so I can move the fleece and underlay in and out.

Thanks. I am seriously thinking about a c&c cage now. I am trying to find the link I saw earlier to where sells them. My memory is useless for remembering where I saw things.

I will post pics of my hams on the pics and vids section.

Wow @Wiebke I wondered where all your piggies live! That is quite the set up.

I got my c&c cage from http://www.candcguineapigcages.co.uk/ but i'm lazy and wanted it all pre-measured for me. You can source the grids and correx on ebay I do believe, or from local sign makers.

Thanks for the link. I have looked and they are on hols at the mo and every one says 'out of stock'. Wether this is because they are on their hols, I dont know. But I am thinking of a 2 x 4 and then add to it as and when I can afford it.

The grids are best found on ebay; look under grid cube storage. Make sure that you get the tighter wired grids that have about 8 inside wires per grid, with the looser ones heads can get stuck.

Correx you can also get online or from your local signmakers (prices may vary with each shop but the expensive bit with correx is the shipping cost). I am using a lino offcut as flooring for my groundfloor pens, but there is a certain amount of spillage. However, my cages have gone through so many changes with varying group sizes that this works best for me as I can reaarange the size and form of the pens at need.

Yes, From what I know this is correct, our rabbit has over 7feet of space!

This is what I will be getting. The one with the loft but without the loft. I can add to it when I can afford it.

Looks good, just bear in mind that the correx (red and yellow) inserts do not come with that cage - you need to source the lining elsewhere. A 4x2grid is plenty big enough for a lone piggy until you can afford to add to it :)

The correx is £20. The cage is £27 and a few pence. Its about the price I was going to pay for an indoor rabbit / guinea pig cage but has more room and more options.

The pic is there, its one I upload from photobucket.

Thanks Ride the strides

4ft is the minimum for 1 guinea pig
5ft for 2
6ft for 3-4
a shed is best for anything more
