Hi all

Our lovely Mabel (about 2.5) went to the vets a couple of months ago with a slightly red looking area under her left paw, not broken skin but more red than usual. The vet we saw said it was very mild/borderline bumblefoot so we used the f10 cream they prescribed.

The pigs have always had fleece bedding changed often but as Mabel can be prone to laying in one area we started swapping out the mats much more often to be double sure she wasn’t laying on a damp or soiled bit.

Since her foot issue she’s had a vet visit for something else where the vet felt her feet were fine.

But I keep looking and am not sure if it’s getting bad again? Pictures below and would welcome a view as to if I’m being overly anxious or if these feet look odd to you? Theres also a black mark on one foot but that’s always been there as part of her marking.

She came to use from a rescue and previous neglect situation. We try to keep the nails short but as you can see some are awkwardly curly and I don’t want that to be a problem. She’s due a nail trim tonight.

We’re also due to speak to the vets re her underlying other issues soon so I will send them these photos too but would welcome thoughts in the meantime.

Many thanks

Hi

Unfortunately, your pictures are too blurred to be of use. Is the sole of the feet a dark red and is it feeling different in texture?

Thanks for replying, I’ll take another look this evening and also try to get a better pic. Thanks again.

My piggies came from a neglect situation too and have red back legs but not red feet... the vet thought it was secondary to the mites they had but I'm not convinced, the red legs are still there despite the mites being treated. not sure how cavvy savvy the vet was though. did the cream help?

Sadly I failed to get a better picture than the attached but I felt that one foot was/is redder so am back on the cream. I’m hoping it’s helpful. I don’t know about red legs though, someone on here might.

I’m due to speak to the vets next week about some other health issues for Mabel so I’ll ask her about the foot too and take her back in if needed.

Good luck with your piggies, at least they are in a safe and caring home now. 89822db4-353f-4b7a-8b04-0f3e73ad007f.webpIMG_1305.webpIMG_1305.webp
