Hi guys,

Ive had my guinea for 1.5 years(unsure of his age) and have never seen this before...is it boar glue? It is sticky! No smell to it. He also has some stickiness on his neck. At first, I was worried it was crystals in his urine.

Let me know what you think :) Is this normal?

Similar fleece to the one I have for my two boys and I have found similar patches before on mine. :) Is it hard to the touch? When I had boar glue on mine it was very hard and really stuck to the fleece I could not remove it! And the bits on his fur- is that hard also and stuck? It looks like boar glue to me.

Yes, hard to touch, almost like when glue dries, haha maybe thats why they call it glue :) Any advice on how to get it off his chin?

I would say yes it definitely looks like Boar glue. My boys love covering their liners and beds with patches of this. Ha ha.

I’m afraid there isn’t any way to get it off. Unless you trim the hair. But usually I just wait until it grows out or hair is long enough. As when it dries it’s nearly impossible to remove.

Seriously! Wow, interesting. I had no idea. Why do they do this? haha
PS thanks for the help!

It’s just a natural part of having boars. And it’s nothing to worry about.

Yes, this looks very much like boar glue - and it is a VERY descriptive name when it come to removal as cutting it out or off is the best way of removing it. :(

Thanks Wiebke! Good to know, they have never done it before so have no experience with it
