Is this a URI?

I've noticed Patch (4yo) has been making this noise very intermittently (maybe lasting a few minutes, 2 or 3 times a day) over the past couple of days. At first I thought it was chutting, but now I'm wondering if it's actually crackling from a URI? She seems to do it more when asleep, although I have heard her do it while awake... She's otherwise totally fine in herself, eating, drinking, no weight loss, very energetic, behaving the same as her friend. If I call her over for a snack, she immediately stops making the noise and starts wheeking. Her eyes and nose are totally clear, no watering or gunk or crusting.

I've taken a video where you can hear the noise pretty clearly. I've called our vets and the exotic vet is (of course!) leaving for holiday tomorrow until beginning of August. They do always seem to pick the most inconvenient moments...

I was intending to call to make an on the day appointment with our local 'normal' vet first thing on Monday as from what I've read it seems like URIs should be treatable by any vet (although obviously an exotic vet would be much preferable, I know which antibiotics should be prescribed).

Does this sound like a sensible course of action? The other options I have are to call up the emergency (non exotic) vets for a weekend appointment if it's more urgent than I think, or if really necessary, to try to get an appointment at the other exotic vets on the vet list (which would be a very expensive 1 hour uber there and back or an extremely traumatic tube journey). I'll of course do whatever needed for her, but would love a second opinion to balance my anxiety with what's actually necessary!

(Our location is London, not Amsterdam as it says in my signature, think I've lost permission to edit that since I missed the donation round this year!)

Yeah I’d keep a close eye on her at the weekend and get her checked over on Monday. Does your vet not open for normal appointments on Saturdays? Good luck.

Thank you weepweeps!

As an update: I ended up calling 5 local vets on Saturday morning and couldn't manage to get her an appointment, but thankfully she still seems pretty happy, other than the on and off crackling. She's still eating, maintaining weight, doing her usual acrobatics, jumping on top of the carrot cottage.

I did manage to get her an appointment today, and the vet couldn't hear any crackling while she was in the appointment with the stethoscope, but I showed her the video which she agreed sounded like a URI, so prescribed doxycycline for a 5 day course. Unfortunately they only had tablets in, and the dose would have been less than a quarter of a tablet which would have been a nightmare to split accurately, so they've ordered some liquid that I can pick up Wednesday.

I'm thinking to start giving her probiotics now in preparation? Does that sound like a good idea? I've been researching doxycycline since I got back and it sounds like it's pretty rough on the gut. I had ordered some Pro-C in anticipation of getting antibiotics prescribed, as well as some Emeraid Sustain just in case.

I’m pleased you managed to get her seen. Yeah it won’t hurt to give some Pro C. I hope she’s soon on the mend.
