The sun is shining and ny two girls were out popcorning in their run and I couldn't bare to see the new two sat in their hutch watching them.

Now the new two were rescued at the weekend from a bad situation and the lady told me that they were girls but I do not want to take any chances with unexpected babies. I have looked myself and I think they are girls but we have a vet appointment at the weekend to make sure.

Anyway, I divided the run and put the new girls on the other side away from the hutch so that it would be neutral territory for them.

I put out some carrots and they were all busy munching on the grass. Ive never bonded any guinea pigs before so I dont know if this is good or not:

Both pairs made no noises at each other, no squeaks or grunts
Neither set rumblestrutted
Neither teeth chattered
Neither done the big teeth showing yawn
Neither tried to break down the separation to kill each other.

They basically had a sniff and went back to munching the grass on their respective sides of the run. They did later on lick each others faces through the bars, like a little kiss.

Are these all good signs? I plan on waiting a week after the new ones vet check ( providing they are girls) to bond them which would have been two weeks in quarantine and a healthy vet check.

That does sound promising, though the test will be when they are in a more confined space with no divide.

The space will be even bigger for them so hopefully it all goes to plan and everyone is healthy and female. A nice happy little herd :)

I do like having a herd, the dynamics are so interesting.
