Is this a spur?

Can you see this on Jeremy's paw? It is like a growth of brown hard skin - can I cut it with nail trimmers?

Is it long curling right up from underneath? Hard to tell from that pic. If so, yes, it can be clipped off.

Hi DSL, yes, it is curling up from underneath. I couldn't get a clear pic as he is a wriggler! it feels like hard skin but I wanted to check before I snipped it off.

Yep, choppit. Just be careful as I had a pig pull her foot away as I went to clip it, bending the spur back and it bled (even though it was a small one). Just clip it when you do his toenails as it will grow back - they are easy to keep short.

You can cut it to level with his foot pad - I just meant that it needn't grow so long again before you can cut it.

Ok thanks, I wouldn't have let it grow so long but have been rough with food poisoning, so have been catching up on the grooming this week!
Will trim it tomorrow, ta for the advice.
