Is this a good sized hutch?

Hi there!

I think it would depend on how many piggies you are looking to house? I would check the cavy cages site as they advise the minimum per pig etc etc
x

Just had a look on there, and they recommend min of 7.5sq ft (i.e. 30x36") for one, the same for 2 but 10.5 is better (i.e. 30x50")
and bigger the more piggies you have.

Oh, the smiley faces are supposed to be 'inches' ! lol.

My dad promised me a new hutch so I've been doing some extensive research. How's this one?

Hutch Dimensions - (LWH)115 x 45 x 43cm

Here is the link to the actual hutch - http://www.bitsforpets.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_453&products_id=4

Any good?

That sounds too small. It's less than 4ft by only 1.5ft - they'd only have 6 square feet. They really need 8 square feet minimum, but I know guinea-pig cages prefers 10.5 square feet for two. http://www.guineapigcages.com/

I think you will find it too narrow at only 18" wide which means by normal recommended standards i think it will be too small the usual petshop problem!

Maybe have a look at a local ad trader website as you can get good second hand hutches. I got my boys a lovely hutch last summer and only paid £20 for it and its like new. :))

yes, that's the problem with outdoor hutches. The other option is to get the double ones with the run. I had mine in a huge on with a massive run off it last summer whilst the extension was being built then we put it in our builder's friends storage, only to find out it was then 'skipped'. It cost us £100+ and I was not amused. He probably really gave it away or sold it, pow-pow.

Good luck!
