Is this a good idea for a litter box?

About 2 inches of cat litter and then an inch of safe wood shavings? I don't want to risk her getting to the cat litter and eating it I also don't think the shavings are absorbent enough (and I don't think they control the odor) is this good? Any suggestions? :)

Personally I wouldn't use cat litter as even with the wood shavings, they can still forage around and find it. You can buy paper based cat litter which may be better but I'm not sure.

I have had good results with Biocatolet or Megazorb or Breeder celect litter - all very absorbant and odour controlling plus they are paper based so if any munching does happen its not a huge problem.

In the house where they like to spend a lot of time (so lots of wees!) I put a layer of newspaper, layer of megazorb (or one of the other litters) and then a nice wad of hay for munching as they chill. The hay is topped up each day and the litter changed every 3 days.

I use wood litter pellets as i find they are the safest and you can get them quite cheap. Dont bother getting the expensive brands as they are not that different to the pets at home or wilko's own brands.
