I am not fond of the hairless ones but even at little part of me thinks awww isn't that cute? :)):))

haha i dont think there is ever an ugly piggy, certainly not mine,i think of mine as my children and love them no matter what,i do have one who looks more ferret/something does that count lol

There are persoanl preferences; personally, I don't like hairless piggies, because I like a piggy's fur too much.

But I haven't met an ugly piggy as such, ever!

Oh I'm sorry but I really think the skinny pigs are ugly, it's just not right, don't get me wrong I wouldn't turn one away just because it's ugly, but if I was the type of person who bought guinea pigs from breeders/ pet shops etc they would be the last on my list.

I'm not a big fan on any of the hairless variety of animals really, just shows how breeders can go wrong, and then use the excuse that said type of animal is perfect for people with allergies.

Just a thought if skinny pigs go out in outdoor runs would they need sunscreen on? I'd of thought they'd burn quite badly.

yes from what ive heard you have to be very careful with there skin especially in the sun x

I'm not mad on the hairless ones - I wouldn't call them cute, but ugly would be too strong a word, I guess.

When I first got my Sukie she was a little scraggly haired thing and looked very odd. She sort of grew into her hair (she's in my avatar) and got super-pretty! ^)

Think we might be needing someone to fight the corner for hairless piggies? I love stroking piggies and just think they would feel odd to touch like those hairless dogs!

Was she an ugly duckling pig that definitely grew into a swan she is gorgeous!

Being pretty ignorant on breeding, I just looked up skinny pigs, poor little things were originally bred for experimenting on8...8...8..., and £100 a pig my god what is the world coming to? There's no wonder they're being bred is there. I still think they're not the best looking in the piggie world. Although do feel a bit sorry for them now.

Yeah. Skinny Pigs were bred purposely with the aim for hairless piggies so they could test cosmetics on them and things.
It's very sad.

I wouldn't call it "breeding gone wrong" because it was intentional but it's still wrong.
That being said, I find the hairless ones to be very charming.

When I was first told I was actually allowed to get a Guinea Pig, I wanted a Skinny Pig.
My dad thinks they look too much like rats and thinks they're disgusting...So I wasn't allowed one.
I think they're just adorable.

I don't think there's such a thing as an ugly Guinea Pig.
I think even if there was one that could be considered "ugly", I think if personality would make up for it.
Arnold wasn't my first choice...And I didn't look at him and think "You're the sweetest thing ever!". I just couldn't leave him in those circumstances.
But now I find myself constantly "aww"ing over him because his personality makes him most adorable.

So I think it's their little characters that captivate us.
Although I just think they're all absolutely adorable.

Hels has 2 skinnies and they are real cuties. What they haven't got in looks (some may say), they make up in personality! Both of them are real characters!

At first I thought they were unusual, but you'd have to get used to them. Imagine the opposite, a person covered with hair from head to toe, a hairy elephant or feathered dog... would that be ugly? wierd? or just unusual?

You have to be careful to the words you use... Ugly is a matter of appreciation and conformity to a norm. However, i'd like to point that rarely are animals or people both ugly on the outside and on the inside. So what's more important?

ive never seen an ugly piggy yet, i see mine as my babies and they both have different personalities which i also love, i guess you would have to put sun cream on skinny pigs as when its really hot and sunny here i put sun cream on my piggies ears to stop them burning :)

To label something ugly signifies a personal taste - and nobody always agrees on taste! Thus there is no such thing as an ugly creature. :)

I was not keen on skinnies/baldwins either, but having "met" a few on forums over the last few years they have certainly grown on me. Their care is more specialised though.

I love skinny piggies, they are gorgeous.

No piggies are ugly, but I have come across a few 'cross' looking ones, which makes them quite endearing. xx

Our Curly looks like he has a cross-patch face which just makes me laugh!
How's this for a cross patch face?
