We call our piggie Trek because when we rescued him from the awful petshop my 2 and a half year old thought it was hilerious that he was black and white with a big brown bum. When I asked what she wanted to call him she said Trek. Her reason being that she thought he looked like Shrek sitting in a bath of mud, hence muddy brown bum. She cant say Shrek properly yet hence Trek!

Aww yeah.. I go through phases of calling them names.

Tonic cos I had a Jin back then, Icey cos it goes in the drink, etc

Rattie cos she looks like one, a gorgeous one at that. Tiny, the runt in the litter.

Etc etc..

My nephew can't/wont say Tatty (our cat) so insists on calling him cat! ;)

I like to name mine after bears ( cause I think that they are like little bears!) hence, Pookie, Binky, Cubby, Bubu, Rupert. I do have a Golly too, not a bear but he looks some much like a Golly! I think that as soon as you look at them you see their name, but like to wait a few days to make sure it 'fits'! I have had exceptions to this rule, Snowy (!) and Rodney who was the spitting image of the Dr Dolittle one! ahh!

Urm, not really. Nust names that suit the pig. Uusually go on fur colour of style. But sometimes just completly random. :D

Well my guineas go their names for a reason too,

RANDY well he got his name because he was humping the rest of the males. (I BROUGHT HIM FROM WILSON'S PETSTORE) and when i choose him i called him randy and it stuck. When i took him back to have his nails clipped they rembered him and knew his name which was lovley.

Then couple days later had to go back and get him a freind lucky there was his brother still there so i had to have him too. My daughter called him after her favourite sweets SMARTIE.

Ours were named by our 4 year old, for reasons known only to himself they are Lucy and Rebecca ? so , no they're not named after anything inparticular!

awww hinting he wants a sister or two! ;)

Piggie is called that because well, he's a piggy! Chester is called that because my son wanted him to call him Manchester United ::) Candyfloss was called that when I got her and is now just Candy for short, and Abbie was originally called Minnie but I changed it to Abbie because she's an abby and she has such a sweet little feminine face and Abbie struck me as a name that suited her little face!

Don't you start! I've got my parents on at me as he's on his own and "it's a shame for him" etc..etc..! :D

He's actually told me he wants a brother called Jamie, he's called his PG Tips Monkeh Jamie and takes him to bed every night - he tells everyone he is his brother ? not sure whether to be worried about that one ;D

My boy had a toy doll. Which OH doesn't like,(it's a girls toy blah blah blah). We went round to see a friend just after new year who'd had his 3rd boy. Now the doll is Baby George. He gets cuddled, kissed, shh'd. Oh yes, and hit and told "naughty baby george." Hopefully he'l do the nice bits to our next one, and not tread on it all over the floor! ;D

You have one of those 4 year old types too?! My daughters names are really excellent or just odd! Margalo - fantastic. Emily - not really a pig name!. Star - the kitten, love it.
Elizabeth - strange child!

Initially I would have loved to have a group of really fantastic names all on a theme, but it just hasn't worked that way!

Emily, Margalo & Sue (she came with her name Piggy Sue?).
Sylvie (because she is a lilac/silver colour) & Spud - came with his name & I love it!
Pudding & MagPie now known as Maggie for short.
Their babies Willow & Wisp. Wanted nature names becuase the mums were quite wild! & Elizabeth 88) ! Little Bear & Shadow.
The two boys going to a new home have been named Clive (!) & Coco (but should have been Terry because he's choc & orange - or even Ginger Nut because his pompoms will be bright orange!) .

Oh dear - our Tiger is named after a Tiger tank! I chose the name for our bunny George (coz he looked like a George ? !) so the OH got to name Tiger... this was the best of the lot after I put my foot down over "Rommel" and "Panzer" (another tank).. actually it suits him!

Our 2nd bun is called Marble as it describes the patterns on his coat, and my hammie is called Gus, or more often Gusball!
