Is straw a safe bedding?

My partners bought some straw for the piggies, is it safe to use as bedding?

I wouldnt recommend it, straw can be dangerous for piggies, for example..they could get poked in the eye as straw is quite tuff and thick compared to hay. x

It's not the best.
But it's more personal preference.
I've experienced hay pokes in the past and can imagine it's similar to straw pokes so i'm nervous as using it as bedding now.
Poor piggies eye clouded all over and needed eye drops.

I use Barley straw and have never had any problems with it. It helps to keep them warm in the winter and they don't eat it (unlike hay!)
