New Born Pup
Hi everyone,
This is my first thread, so I apologize if this is the incorrect place to post this question, or if I leave something out.
I've recently gotten a sweet little girl named pork chop, and she's about 3 months old. I've noticed her poops are very small compared to my other guinea pigs (who is 5 months old). They're consistantly small, and I see that she is eating a lot and drinking, and has lots of energy and is always running around with her friend and playing. Her poops have always been small, but they're not pinched at the end or dry, so along with her energy and willingness to eat and drink and how often she does, I don't think she's dehydrated. She also doesn't have any sniffles, or crusties around her eyes or nose.
She was deemed healthy by the pet store vet (I know I shouldn't get piggies from pet stores, but there are no guinea pig rescues where I live), but because she has wry neck and a very slight face deformity (she was born with it, it didn't develop from an ear infection. I also believe she's deaf which may play a part in it) I made an appointment with a guinea pig vet not associated with the pet store, just to have everything checked out and make sure that despite not showing any signs of illness, that she's healthy, and that if there's anything special I have to do with her birth defect that I can be made aware of so she can be as healthy and happy as possible. Her vet appointment is January 19 (earliest appointment I could get), but because her poops aren't getting any bigger, I just wanted to ask if it was normal in a young piggie.
In case it's important, she does poop a lot more often than my other guinea pig, so I wonder if they're small because she poops more often so they don't build up as big.
I know this form doesn't substitute an exam from a trained guinea pig vet, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this while I wait for her vet appointment. Also if anyone knows of any questions I should ask the vet regarding this, please let me know. All help is appreciated
Thanks!
