Is Overlaping C&c Grids Safe Enough For Guinea Pig Loft?

Hi there I've just ordered my C&C grids today so should arrive just in time for my week off work :)
Currently the space where the cage/house will be is 4cm too short each way for a 2x4 grid pattern. I know I can overlap the bottom section but will a loft floor still be safe enough with overlap? I plan on using cable/zip ties to make them extra secure. Just wondering what other peoples thoughts are? Its the only space we have however as the house we rent is a small 2 bedroom. We currently have 2 small 8week old guinea pigs who are in a 50x100cm cage with daily access to a safe penned floor space. Thank you in advance :)
 
Thank you every one feel much better now knowing that it will be safe, just got to source the base material and figure out how to do the ramp x
