Are these cataracts? My female guinea pig, Maggie. She is a senior 4-5 year old guinea pig. She has been acting different like before I noticed these she was making noises when I turned my room lights on, but no she isn't. She didn't even move(try to get away from light) when I was taking a pic with the flash on. She has started to move her head more like there is something blocking her view like a tall man in front of me at a concert. She is a rescue so I don't know what happened to her I got her and her boyfriend. Rest in peace Chris. Chris was neutered right before I got them.

Ok can you recommend any vets near Covington ky
Welcome to the forum. I’d agree that a vets check would be a good idea. We are based in the UK so I’m not sure whether there are Any members near to who might be able to recommend a vet. Guinea Lynx is a good resource for finding vets. Here is the link to the relevant page for Kentucky Veterinarians: Kentucky - Guinea Lynx Records

Hi

Please see a vet for a hands-on diagnosis and any appropriate treatment, including a special dye to check under uv light whether it could be ulceration from an injury in the front chamber of the eye or whether it is a cataract (spreading dots) or nuclear sclerosis (where the whole lens is going cloudy at once). We cannot tell you what you are exactly dealing with.

Any general vet will do since since guinea pig eyes are the same as dog or cat eyes, and so is any medication for infections. Cataracts and nuclear sclerosis can also come on rather quickly but are not treatable in guinea pigs.
Thankfully, eyesight is the weakest sense in guinea pigs (it is the strongest in humans), so guinea pigs usually adapt well after a transition period during which brain function is shifted to other senses.

All the best.
