Is My Fleece Wicked Yet ?

Hello Piggie Lovers.

I'm currently in the prep for switching over to fleece bedding as it really appeals to me. I've washed my fleece 3 times and I can't tell if it's been wicked or not.

Last night tested a piece and it went right through. This morning tried again and it pools for a second before going through the fleece. I can't tell if this is okay or does it need another wash?

Sorry if I'm being stupid or anything ... I've never used fleece before. I haven't used any fabric softener either and always test it with absorbent layers underneath.

Any advice would be helpful :) I'm using polar anti pill fleece.

When you first test on unwashed fleece, it really does pool. I'd say you're wicking! Imagine if a guinea pig peed on it, the amount of liquid would probably wick.

I'd say yup! We got some purple fleece a few days ago, and when I tested it first, before washing, it was practically waterproof. But after washing, a few droplets stayed on the surface which is normal.
So, if the liquid sinks through, it's fine:nod:

I tried it again this morning. It pooled longer but then sank through. It's weird how tempermental my fleece is. XD tomorrow is swap over day though :3
 
Decided to put it through a slightly colder wash this morning just to be safe, as I didn't like how long it took for the water to fall through and didn't feel comfortable putting it in with my piggies. Today is cleaning the cage day so hopefully after drying this fleece will be good to go :3
 
Think how much urine pigs produce drop a table spoon of liquid on it and see.

How thick is your fleece? I found the poundworld fleeces where great after 4-5 washes

I have been doing. It was sort of wicking before but now it's not at all.

I don't know how thick it is... not that thick really I don't think.
 
that is really odd. I really dont know what to say... so it is still pooling? You haven't used softener have you just powder?

It is still pooling yes. It was going through after a while but now it's not moving :( I haven't used any softener. It's really disheartening cuz I really want to use it ^^;;
 
How much have you tipped on?
