Hi all! I got a new baby piggie and a pal for him 3 weeks ago. The older pig is fab 8) sits on your knee munching hay and makes it clear when he has had enough by trying to climb down and head butting. But i have never had a baby one before and am having trouble working out his signals.
I assumed that when he started squeaking/wheeking (it's a strange mix of the two!) whilst out on my knee meant he was missing Jasper and wanted to go back. But i realised he does it when i am talking, or when he is eating his treats. It sounds like a distressed noise but maybe i am wrong. He wouldnt be eating if he was unhappy, would he? And i read somewhere that your baby will 'talk' to you when he gets used to your voice. But I aslo read that the noise is a call for help.
What are the signs he is happy, distressed. I'm confused!:{
Also how often should i hold him to make him nice and tame?

He's probably still a bit distressed about it all. Just continue with your rountine. Some piggies can be very vocal. Try to cuddle him together with his friend and see whether that makes a difference. He'll get his cues about behaviour from the other piggy.

Just as Wiebke has said, he's still going to be getting used to everything, being only small. Some pigs are very vocal, others aren't. He will soon learn, some are hardly handled, depending where you get them before you have them, then it's the new sights, sounds and smells. He'll get there, the more you handle him the better really. As already said, he will take ques from his friend so handling them together is a real help.
