My vet, when I asked him about using mcp + emeprid, said I can't use mcp for more than 3 days because with longer use there is a risk that the pig's intestines will refuse to work when you stop giving it. I've read the general guide on bloating and in truth quite a few threads and haven't seen anyone mention it.
The bloating started after 10 days of using baytril + fibreplex. For the first 9 days of bloating I used simethicone with some herbal based support (it's a German drug called Rodicare Akut). Unfortunately this did not solve the problem, so following advice from this forum I asked my vet about mcp and got a dose for 3 days, which unfortunately ran out this morning. Generally over these 3 days of use the piggy's condition has improved, but the bloat is still noticeable and the piggy eats very little on its own, needing CC from the syringe all the time. I am worried that now without the mcp her condition may worsen again.
Should I keep giving her cisapride without mcp?
In addition to the medication I am also using an electric toothbrush, could you give me some suggestions on how to massage effectively? Should I also massage her on the lower abdomen or mainly on the sides?
Greetings.
